  1. Living abroad I can confirm that this post is generally true Edit: Except the third paragraph which is pretty much only true if you get a bunch of Canadians with an American
  2. Well, the Dodgers were already good...
  3. The generalization that everyone does it is not true. It is very common, however.
  4. This is not at all what's going on in this thread. People say he's terrible and wont' ever be good. A few pages back I brought up that he could be good but needs to work on things, but people on this forum look at 5 games worth of stats and conclude he's terrible. There are very few posters (especially in this thread) who aren't 'stoopit'
  5. All I can say is welcome to the forum. You will begin to notice who here to simply ignore soon. This forum is a place where people look at 4-5 games worth of stats, make some bold statements then choose other stats to defend these positions. With Sanchez it started last year, so people will simply continue until they are right (and so it's boring to keep saying it over and over) or they are proven clearly wrong (i.e. 3-4 great years). Edit: If you think it's bad when they predict someone to be bad, wait until they predict someone to be good and wait 3-4 years for him to be bad, then somehow blame the Jays for him being bad. Honestly if you're here for deep analysis of baseball you may be better simply listening to the Jays' broadcasters
  6. My guess is he throws too many get-me-over fastballs due to being behind 3-0 and 3-1 too much.
  7. I've actually liked what I've seen from Sanchez this year, but more for a rotation spot in 2016. He clearly needs to go down to the minors and work on his ability to throw strikes (or even good pitches) consistently. Anyone who thinks all hope is lost on him is being pessimistic. A couple of the walks today were actually on very good pitches (i.e. borderline strikes) so the number 7 is a little bit inflated (But still a bad sign). Maybe even a half year in the minors would let him work some stuff out
  8. In general I agree, right now I think for Sanchez framing is secondary, and Martin's bat (right now )Hurts our chance to score runs in a game we will probably need runs in.
  9. I just think the way Martin is playing right now it's better that he avoids Sanchez starts, needs to focus on his hitting with pitchers who already know what they're doing. Need a more reliable guy right now for Sanchez. Just my opinion, probably not popular around here but I want to win some games and rfaming doesn't matter if Sanchez doesnt have confidence in who's calling the game and missing the zone entirely
  10. At this point I'd really rather see Navarro catching the younger guys, they need some extra runs that Navarro provides to keep the confidence up along with the better game calling. Buehrle knows this, that's why he's sticking with Navarro behind the plate despite "framing".
  11. That's not necessarily true. If I understand right most people playing this are using some sort of model, and it could be the case (for many possible reasons) that they simply have better models (very important: for doing daily fantasy leagues) edit: or are using them more effectively, which was something LTR suggested was important before the year
  12. Possibly, I just meant generally. To be honest, though, I don't see this team able to give the Jays much trouble (remember the history of trouble with the Rays when they were bad was in part because the Jays were also bad)
  13. Wow, the Rays are awful.... I know their SP's are ok but that's a 70 win lineup
  14. Have to agree with this, or in the minors. I think we'll see in the next 2 weeks what their real plan was with him. I think he has a very short leash and will end up in the pen (where they want him anyway) and they'll use a revolving door for the 5th SP like many teams do
  15. He definitely didn't look good, but there were some positives. Induced lots of GB's, of course many were hit hard. To me it looked like he was just extremely uncomfortable (Wasted lots of pitches). But, let's be honest, it was his first career start... to evaluate him I'd like to see a few more where maybe there aren't so many nerves. Giving bombs in the first inning probably crushed his confidence too
  16. Might be better to ask how many times. I'll say 20 games of those players
  17. Who cares about WAR? I'm hoping for wins
  18. I've started to get into it and I'm really enjoying it. How are you picking your lineups? Anything special (such as matchups, players in slaughters, who's hot etc) or just going with your gut?
  19. Not even homering but this isn't even close
  20. I think we have to give him some benefit of the doubt and assuming he knows what he's doing. It does seem like a very strange trade to me, and I wonder if his epic fail at last year's deadline has got him squirming a little bit. If Lawrie turns into a decent player (really if he stays healthy) and Baretto is an above average MLBer at any position then it probably turns into a draw.
  21. I won the first one, at least Spanky said I did
  22. I think it depends where/who we play. If we're playing the Mariners in Seattle I think Dickey may be the best option. Otherwise Stroman would be my choice
