  1. Fair enough. Agree with that. no rush whatsoever.
  2. We have seen enough to know there are no guarantees of "completely healthy" for Morrow....ever. Its all about risk anticipation and mgm against other options.
  3. I think the days of Morrow being "anointed" a rotation spot are over. IF he comes back healthy and IF they decide to gamble on the net 9mm he will he wont have any guarantees. Who knows? If they cant resign casey(or he is hurt) they may want to experiment with him as a closer. That should be good for a few gray hairs for all of us.
  4. Melky 2014 = $8mm. Cruz same. Called the "damaged goods PED discount" and they don't last long when guys come back like Cruz and Melky have. Not an apples to apples comparison with Morrow. He is a pitcher and we have an option...that's our choice. Exercise or dump for $1mm.
  5. that's never been the issue with Morrow although his stuff 2013-14 hasn't been as nasty. However I agree with jays4life19 that 1 year with net cost 9mm seems cheap and worth the risk when you look at FA comparables. SD took a flyer on Johnson at $8mm last this year. Hasn't worked out and lets hope for a better fate if we do same on Morrows option. Its hard to keep it all in perspective when the frustration level goes up watching him pitch this season and last.
  6. We got the best of deal with Seattle but the issue of exercising Morrow's option is separate. What concerns me more is that since he got hurt in 2012 (oblique) even when he isn't on the DL he just hasn't had the same stuff imo. For the rest of the year he is in the pen if and when he comes back. If he gets it together AA can make that call. If he doesn't he will be somebody else's' if, come, maybe guy. I thought his career was going to parallel AJ Burnett's, as a late blossoming SP with great stuff who finally overcame injuries.
  7. Have to admit its fun to be on the givin' hurt end of it for a change with Tampa but you can never count these guys out.
  8. "save some for tomorrow"??!! Havent we blown enough leads this year to learn you don't take your foot off the head of the snake. We need to make sure TB doesn't get up in this game.
  9. Longoria??!! feels like we have never gotten him out!
  10. stay aggressive Hutch. f*** the solo dinger. go right after them
  11. Fair enough. but Ive seen enough of Jose's questionable baserunning risks over the last 4 years to no longer give him the benefit of the doubt on it. Couldn't tell well on TV what was going on with the throw....still you have to wonder if the possible out is worth the risk when we were clearly rallying and had Bedard going. Have nothing but kudos on his offense and everything else.
  12. Im not forgetting that. Jose has been a stud for the Jays. Props on the RBI but the baserunning choice is a completely different issue.
  13. Lawrie has been swinging at anything this slump....bad pitch selection.
  14. We need a tracking thread on "Outs Jose has run into unnecessarily"
  15. BOTH of those talents are a long way from a lock to be impact players in MLB. If we make playoffs and if RA can finish rest of yr strongly making a major contribution chewing up some quality innings, the deal isn't Armageddon. It all looks a lot diff (ya I hated the deal too).
  16. I hated them even more when RA was scuffling. After his last few starts I can live with them but they are bad. Go Jays!
  17. I would shocked if Morrow comes back and isn't in the pen but stranger things have happened. Tougher for him to get a rotation spot if Happ can produce any even close to what he did yesterday.
  18. Wish I was. Was flying Calgary to TOR for meeting Thurs and got awesome seats for Wed, but a deal is blowing up I was working on so now I have to cancel and go to PRINCE GEORGE instead. Blows. So bummed. I hope we can take this series. Rays have been a nemesis.
  19. Agree with all that except Id add: CJ needs to stay healthy RA needs to pick it up as he did last start as I don't think MB will end up with these ostentatious numbers. we need to continue to get reasonable GW contributing efforts from the combo following our top 4 on any given night, as we have been. world peace.
  20. Kawasaki!...um no wait. He came up last year.
  21. Watching Gose today against LHP reminded me of Major League: "Willie Mays Hayes. I hit like Mays, and I run like Hayes." - Willie Mays Hayes "You may run like Hayes. but you hit like s***." - Lou Brown I think he is learning this, buts all about contact and OBP for him to stick. He has tantalizing tools.
