Colby 2012 awful and Colby 2013 one of top 3 CF in AL IMO ending with .840 OPS, relatively cheap compared to guys like Jones/Upton and solid BAPIP numbers. Steady D. Colby 2014 who knows? He has 9 dingers and an ever alarming K rate and hurt. A great 3rd basemen is all about reaction time - arm and quickness. 2 requires more lateral movement. Lawrie could be great at 3rd and + at 2nd in my opinion over time. -
Agree with this on Thole. His approach at the plate has been consistent - he is not over swinging ever and taking everything right back up the middle or to LF. He is guy who finally figured out he is a punch and judy hitter and can make a career of that and catching RA. (I hope)

Fair assessment. At a min we have to get Kratz in some games for D alone. I am good with DN bat but his D is marginal at best and hurts us.

Thanks. Although both were risks AA took after one big year each these deals are shockingly good given the consistent production to date since, even with Jose's injuries etc. Especially when you look at some of boat anchor long term deals out there. The team options for 2016 are so valuable for those assets.

We have team options on EE and JB - what are the rules on picking them up so we could move them at 2015 deadline, if need be, still under contract through 2016?

This teams window is now - EE and JB are undermarket deals and resigning them again to UM deals wont happen unless rapid decline through 2016 which means we wouldn't want them anyway likely. Reyes and MB huge salaries will factor here if they aren't moved and replaced. No way you could or would sign both Melky and Colby. We have a closer in CJ who also needs resigning with a great closing ratio, but he has spent lots of time on the DL and lives on the edges.

Exactly, didn't we beat Lester once already? I saw a Bucholtz start in TOR this year where we had him on the ropes early big time. Just didn't finish him and I think Morrow walked 20 in the first inning. CB has struggled this year. I say we take 2 of 3 which I'm takin that all day long. Go Jays!
