  1. That's more cringe worthy than watching Borat and the Dictator back to back!
  2. Agree 100%. I do think Rasmus starts when back and we let the scenario you point out unfold as the trade market crystallizes. ITs a decision tree from there. I think this is an excellent situation for the Jays. Some people may be underestimating the financial motivation Colby(if that matters to him) has to play well the rest of his FA year and now he has organizational push from Gose/Pillar. Also, just as a person its got to be great to watch, but hard to know the team can win so handily without you playing guys who make min.
  3. Can you imagine?! With their lack of offense and RHH Myers struggling how much they would love to get EE for 10mm per through 2016.
  4. By the two lugs are you referring to the guy in RF who had 2 back to back 9-3 putouts in games and has been playing very steady D offsetting limited range with good routes to the ball and a cannon, as well as Melky who has been playing avg LF and throwing very well this year?
  5. Are those guys really on here too? They are all over the old board which the reason I go there less and less. Gibbers was on there today massacring the HOF f***tard Sempai for amusement over his "Rajai Davis" clown thread.
  6. Whatever...we shouldn't have beaten tampa on a walk off sac bunt either.
  7. HUGE win today to even the series after 2 tough losses. Unbelievable start again.
  8. Semantics? ok - fair enough. I am talking not ceiling in the sense of one big year. What is the ceiling we can expect consistently from him avg year to year. The .950 OPS in 2011 is probably his blip ceiling. a couple of posters have already put some thoughts up on their expectations and I tend to agree with them. Your comments on Beltre are true. He had a production hiatus. Always a great fielder.
  9. Oh, I think we have the resources to get a Shields but it will cost us prospects most don't seem to want to part with. I don't want to fill one hole on MLB roster only to create another when making a run.
  10. I cringe to think what we do may depend on Morrow in any way. To me that would meet the definition of insanity.
  11. This debate could go on forever. Taking someone now who can add value to a playoff run for someone with potential future value. Who knew Kent would be a future HOFer for sure? Maybe he would become a Snider or many of the other top rated prospects who don't translate into what was projected. Read the Mets Board vis a vis D'arnaud. It didn't work well for the Expos with Colon. Had they won in 94 or on that gamble they may still have a team. If we don't win in 92 and get over the hump nobody knows what the state of our team would be now. How much Cone was the catalyst for the win is debateable. Sometimes these deals work and sometimes they don't. They all have a cost and hopefully the upside you want associated with them. I think you have to look at every situation on its own merits given the circumstances.
  12. There is no rush. You cant force a deal. It will happen when its ready to materialize based on a number of factors. That's obvious. Behind the scenes and off the record these discussions have already started taking place.
  13. 1st place June 1st with a bona fide offense and defense. Decent rotation that needs one more horse. An AL East with good teams all with their share of holes. This opportunity rarely comes. I like Norris and Sanchez, but the price of Shields or a Masterson will be steep. Its a sellers market. AA has to make the move for the now imo.
  14. no doubt. monster number with RISP. Says it all. I think coming out of 09 expectations from some were so high, and 10, 11,12 weren't great years for him. Some people have tagged him with "rally killer" and its stuck. The reality is 2013 and 14 his production in leveraged situations are great. Not to mention we aren't paying him a boatload.
  15. THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. Lind, unless sandwiched in #4 doesn't get as many chances to drive in runs and he was on the DL and he sits against most LHP. He is doing everything asked of him and is huge value. Joe Carter? I could have had 100 RBIS batting 4th on those Jays teams. Lifetime OPS .771....over rated. Says it all (but thanks for hitting us that one in 93).
  16. Yup - yelling at Lind has nothing to do with the quality of his D including accuracy of throws. I don't think he exaggerates anything. He has just been downright impressive and consistent.
  17. Seriously...of all people to go after Lind is mashing like 09 and RHP are getting killed by him. His leveraged stats are fine. He also had a great 2013. One of the few Jays. LHP-well that's another story. Although with the swing he has going this year he could probably hang in there.
  18. assuming Farmer Redmond can close this out, great 1st start by Stroman. When Hosmer is saying "wow" on his slider, he has some stuff working. Great ABs up and down the line up. Awesome bounce back for the Jays to get back on track!
  19. Ah...good ol Darnell. Greatest player in Jays club history.
  20. seriously? Hey, we all went nuts over that clutch walk off, but the "best player in club history"?! Guy put up a lifetime .770 OPS and was over rated in my books on O and he was avg at best in OF. Alomar is in the HOF built on his years with us. Molitor had 3 great seasons with us. Jose blows Joe out of the water as a Jays RF. Halladay, Clemens...on and on.
  21. I agree with that line projection for him. Just for interest sake I looked back on 92 and 93 WS teams. Gruber had a .625 OPS in 92 and Sprague sub .700 OPS.
  22. I don't know what that even means?...Rasmus had a .840 OPS last year in 120 gms and a sub .700 2012. Lawrie Ks a lot but not like Rasmus.
