  1. Smith good inning. A comeback in the Trop is rare for us. It's in our sights. Let's go Jays!
  2. This would be great news. Even if he isn't hurt (which would be great) he just looked like he had nothing working yesterday. It happens. Lets hope just an aberration.
  3. Always looks a hell of a lot worse than it is when its all going to s*** like it did in April. Pearce, Morales, Travis and Jose are going to hot at some point. I expect Osuna to start throwing better. Pillar is the only one over achieving raking a 135 wRC+ right now. Can probably say the same about Smoak. The other bats should more than make up for their regression. I still think Pearce and Morales will end up with big years in the RC. April was a lost month. Tulo and Martin are older players making more than they should at this point on long term deals, but still are solid contributors. Obviously we need Sanchez and Happ back but it was always unlikely the black swan event on rotation health/performance in 2016 would be repeated. Liriano has become an essential piece this year. Stay the course and build around a solid, albeit aging, nucleus. The whole country is behind this team and there is a lot of momentum. I'd love to see that sustained to some degree, even though a WC is highly unlikely at this point.
  4. Hazel Mae struggling to fill air time on that Tulo update. So glad to hear Tulo and JD have had time to bond while our season goes up in Flames. Wow. That's pushing it to find an upside to their injuries.
  5. This is good to see Gov. He has been dormant.
  6. Another decent outing from Liriano (who owns a killer bunny sweater). I still love that pick up. Big hit from Smoak and Biagini was boss when we needed him. A little more on the heater today from Osuna. Its a W!
  7. Smith got that one up right down the pipe. We got lucky there. About time.
  8. rolling the dice keeping Smith in against LoMo. Zeke should have had that.
  9. big shot Smoakie. We needed that one.
  10. what a rule 5 pick up. Consistent stuff.
  11. That hurt. With his bat you would love to see a little better glove plugging the hole for JD.
  12. lol. In the last 20 years through all our challenges, I cant remember feeling as ambivalent about watching a Jays team...or not. I cant explain it...other than they suck and should be better.
  13. f*** off annoying troll.
  14. correct. level headed when it comes to ball, and realising its a 162 game season and all teams have their holes and ups and downs.
  15. Welcome back Spank. #1 hardcore true blue most level headed optimistic realistic Jays fan on this board. Mods have a tough job. Its always hard to understand how a troll like Gary sticks when Spanky gets the boot. Agree with Hurl that Spank rarely doesn't get into it when pushed...he has a nose for spotting and calling out trolls.
  16. The umps were horrendous, but if a MLB 2B bounces a throw to home with the IF in and the offense cant string together more than 7 hits off a Chavez start, you aren't going to win too often. This team is injured and just bad right now. Liriano was solid again and didn't get much from the ump.
  17. Clearly PEDs do not help you throw strikes, but they do help you be able to pick up weighted balls.
  18. Yeah, Im kinda glad we didn't give him 5/150mm deal. Friend of mine had lunch with him this off season. He asked Jose about his arm and he said it was fine. It was just that the Sportsnet announcers work for Rogers and were just trying to lower his value. My buddy then pointed out statscast numbers on his arm validating their comments. Jose changed the subject...."pass the salt".
  19. I can't remember a slump this bad for Jose since he broke out. I mean I've seen some slow starts and some dry periods. But he looks completely lost at a time when we really need him to come through. His frustration isn't hidden.
  20. Tough year so far. Hard to get up for the games. Stayed til the bitter end on Sunday as the crowd thinned out to the studs amidst a smattering of boos. On the way back to the hotel, I couldn't help but think all hotels, restaurants and bars hosting the Jays gear wearing "fans" packing their places along the route are going to suffer if we can't mount a credible rebound of sorts. Obviously we aren't a .167 team and its going to get better, but Shapiro has his work cut out for him over the next 3-5 years. Lets start today with Stro!
  21. Things are looking up. Brought my son and his bud from Calgary to watch this weekend. We get a walk off and then run into Liriano at the Benihana at the Royal York. He was so nice. He was there with his boys. Signed autographs and got up to take a picture with the boys. Very cool thrill for the kids.
