    What's not to get? The casual fan probably assumes that Buck is sick and they didn't have anyone else so they got the local weatherman to fill in.

    Bad strategy. They should have intentionally walked Thole in order to clog up the bases.

    Enough with the Thole whining. 9 times out of 10 he would have been DOA on that play. Literally any throw within a couple of steps of the catcher he would have been out.

    Chase Field is a really weird outfield. It's basically a square-shaped field with a little cutout in dead center.

    I wish Sportsnet would just sign Dan Shulman to a fat-ass multi-year contract, then we could put this entire discussion to bed. The TV ratings certainly seem to justify it. I mean how married could he be to that Sunday night gig.

    This makes no sense. How does getting traded mid-season benefit Bautista in any way? He doesn't get a raise. He doesn't improve his playoff chances unless it's to the Cubs. He's still a free agent at the end of the year and would get the same contract regardless. He would have to pack up and move while working 6 and a half days a week. There's literally no incentive whatsoever for Bautista to accept a trade.

    Even though the pitches are similar, I doubt the home run derby is anything remotely like batting practice. BP is such a routine thing that players generally have very relaxed, compact swings. The home run derby is serious pressure, and pretty much everyone is giving 100% effort to mash every ball out of the park.

    Why are Buck or Pat always talking while a home is flying into the seats? Dan should knock their heads together.

    I think this detail is less talked about than it should be. The branding was terrible and the franchise had no sense of identity at all. Fans begrudgingly wore the Black Jays merchandise to show some level of support, but deep down everyone hated the uniforms. It was the product of Paul Godfrey trying to appeal to a younger generation, and it would have been cringeworthy if it wasn't so depressing. Like if your dad tried to lay down a 90s rap to impress your friends, or something. A couple of months into the 2012 season and you could hardly find anyone wearing black jays gear anymore. The redesign / rebirth of the classic uniform was long overdue. It brought the franchise and the entire fanbase together in unity. Now you see people wearing hats who aren't even baseball fans; they just love the look. Paul Beeston may have done more to save the franchise than saber nerds give him credit for.

    You put hitters lower because they're worse hitters, not because they don't have the "mindset" or some s***. Have you ever actually played in a game before? There's no mental perception of placement in a lineup when you're standing in the batters box. The only thing you're thinking of who's on base, how many outs, what's the count. That's it.

    I think the ump is trying to "even up" his earlier bad calls. There is nothing remotely consistent about the ump today, no matter what morons Buck and Pat say.

    Cleveland is the team that prevented the Blue Jays from setting a new record franchise winning streak in 1998. I'm still pissed about that and want some revenge.

    The really scary thing is that as bad as our TV broadcast crew is, it's currently miles better than anything we've had from 2002-2015.
