  1. I remember reading some moron's comment on this site a few days ago that the Wallace for Gose trade was looking good for the Astros at this point. http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif
  2. Seriously. The dumbest. Ever.
  3. I have a feeling Melky is going to bounce back next year for 2+ wins. I think Rasmus is going to be 3+ wins again as well.
  4. 265/335/375 - 710 ops
  5. You are quite literally the dumbest poster I have ever come across on the internet. Either that, or you are one of the greatest trolls I've ever seen because of how many people you reeled in with your bait.
  6. Where was it claimed that it would?
  7. Right, so we're supposed to s*** on a Triple-A position change? Am I missing something? Because after reading the previous few comments, I was getting the impression that the Jays just pencilled him into the starting 2B job. Not really making a big deal at all, was wondering why the flame for the organization over a minor pos change?
  8. Umm.. you do? The first half of that sentence (It's an MILB filler) is exactly my point. It's a triple-A waiver wire pickup getting reps at another infield position? Why does that warrant comments like "I swear to God this team..." or "You never know with this organization"?
  9. I don't see any article about it on BlueJaysAggregator, I don't see any radio interviews on Fan590, and I don't see anything on his twitter feed (outside of the tweet below), am I missing something? All I found is this tweet: Brent Morel ‏@Bmorel_22 Jan 24 Getting my work In at 2b.. Can't wait for spring training to get here!! #bluejays #2014 #mlb http://instagram.com/p/jj8jCsRxUi/ Please tell me that's not what you guys are talking about?
  10. I was expecting something like a link.
  11. You have a very strange sense of humor.
  12. I always thought Ubaldo Jimenez and Ricky Romero were the same guy.
  13. Yes actually, you do got it. Actual 4-war players that lead a team to 70 wins are insignificant. A host of potential 4-war players that will all break into the majors around the same time, and add up to a possible 90 win team, are more valuable.
  14. "The relationship between Beeston and Boras goes back 25 years. While executive vice president of the Toronto Blue Jays, Beeston was party to Boras' first multi-millon dollar contract; for relief pitcher Bill Caudill, a former teammate of Boras." f*** you Beeston, you created this monster?
  15. It would be nice if this were true, but it would only confirm what I've always felt; I never really believed that an organization can refuse to negotiate with an agent simply because they feel like it, especially not one that holds one of the biggest client bases in the game. Though that was part me thinking that it would be highly illogical for a team to ever hamstring themselves like that, and part refusing to believe that Beeston could actually be that stupid.
  16. To keep Reyes company in rehab after the inevitable Reyes injury. On a more serious note, I really like this signing in theory because if you sign Drew, that move enables two more moves: signing Ubaldo will only cost you your third round pick at that point, where I like him a lot more, and it also engages you in talks with Boras, making Baker a possibility as well. If you hammer out all three signings in the same aav it cost the Yankees to sign Tanaka (possible - 2M Baker, 9M Drew, 13M Jimenez), you actually end the offseason with a win. If all you're doing is signing Drew though, I'm not sure how much it helps the team. Yes you likely get a few more wins and you hopefully cast Izturis into purgatory, but you take another decent AAV hit and lose your 2nd rounder just to fall short of the playoffs once again.
  17. Why did eastcoast, jfas, King and NJH "thank" every post on the first page? http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif I would be stoked if we signed him. He's the perfect fit for this team right now.
  18. I love this change, but I've always wondered how much this would actually help. Everytime I've seen a ball fly back to the pitcher, the natural instinct of the pitcher has been to turn his face upwards and throw their hands up, actually exposing their face. I see guys take balls off the chin, nose and eye, never seen someone get hit on the forehead.
  19. Except we have like 25 guys that could have big seasons and emerge as serious prospects.
  20. So since several people have asked this already, and have yet to receive clarification, Parks list is bad because it's not a fantasy power ranking?
  21. Exactly this. Going back to Moogy's analogy about the car, there's one big flaw that he left out. In my household and all the others I'm familiar with, the mother is generally the voice of reason. She's not one to mark out and jump with excitement that her son has decided to ditch his desire to buy a value car and suddenly wants a shiny Lexus, going straight to the father for the final seal of approval. It's assumed she would first sit down with the kid, and caution him all the way through to make sure he knows what he's doing, the repercussions in the event that it backfires and he's left with an overpriced dud of a car, and the responsibility he has with making the first major transaction of his life. I agree that the Marlins trade is all on AA (and I still don't mind that trade) but it's on Beeston for being an immature and moronic homer, jizzing at the thought of "selling entertainment". And if Beeston was behind the idea that you absolutely have to get rid of one of the best contracts in baseball in Yunel Escobar simply because of a stupid high school joke and the PR ramifications it brings, then Beeston is also the one that enabled AA to hound over Reyes in the first place. If you aren't in a situation where you have to throw away Yunel for pennies on the dollar, you're not in the situation where Jose Reyes is so much more appealing than he's always been to you.
  22. I don't really care what someone is "led to believe", you have no information or specific details about the negotiation terms. All you know for a fact is that he signed for 7 years, 155M with a 20M posting bid, and it would be f***ing stupid to surpass that offer, for any team. That's all you need to know. It doesn't matter at what point the Jays dropped out, all that matters is that they did drop out, and for good reason.
  23. Except that Dickey still doesn't apply, even based on your new criteria. He's not a guy on an FA deal that you signed in place of another FA. Dickey's contract is far below market value for a pitcher of his caliber, especially the pitcher he was at the time of that contract. There was also no free agent that was comparable to him in terms of the value based on dollars spent. The Jays tried to sign Anibal Sanchez and extended him a 5 year offer, he told them he wanted seven years, and then went on to the sign with the Tigers for the same 5-year offer the Jays made.
  24. I'm not a fan of Arroyo and I don't want anything to do with Santana and Jimenez. I don't think they're worth the dollars they'll receive, and when you throw in the added draft pick compensation, it makes it an easy "f*** no". I feel like second round picks are very largely undervalued when it comes to free agent compensation. I think that the idea that you're not giving up your first round pick probably is what makes giving up a second rounder a much more desirable and appealing scenario for a lot of people, so it's easier to overlook what you're passing on. In the past three years, the Jays have used their second round picks on Daniel Norris (2011), Chase DeJong (2012) and Clinton Hollon (2013), who, thanks to his hugely underslot signing, allowed us to also acquire Jake Brentz and Rowdy Tellez. All of those prospects are currently well-regarded in the Jays farm system. Additionally, Mitch Nay and Matt Smoral would have also both been second rounders in the current revamped draft format, as opposed to the compensation round picks that they were. I wouldn't give up any of those guys (potentially giving up more, since 2014 is thought to be a very deep draft) for a chance to overpay Jimenez or Santana. Especially since second round picks now also come along with your second biggest draft slot, allowing you much more flexibility later on (as was seen in the 2013 draft).
