  1. I didn't say he gets a free pass. I said only a f***ing moron would rage at AA for missing out on Santana. I don't believe that AA has any actual influence in the free agent market to begin with. It comes down to whether the puppeteers, Rogers and Beeston want a guy, and then they tell AA to make an offer, and then it comes down to if the free agent wants to come here. So if he picks up or misses on an FA, I don't give a s*** because I truly believe it's not down to him. That is on Beeston and on Rogers. I do believe, however, that a General Manager makes his money off trades. Beeston or Rogers can't be working the phones and calling up other teams. That is a GM's bread and butter, and that has always been Alex's bread and butter. So if he knew that his club was going to be stingy as f*** this offseason and not allow him to pick up any useful names, or hamstring him with f***ed up policies like not dealing with Boras, then I think he should have kicked it into the next gear and worked his ass off and got something done on the trade market. So yes, I'm not giving him the proverbial (and insignificant -- let's face it, I'm a forum poster) "free pass", because I think he f***ed up for not making any trades and improving the club in that regard (if you can't sign Baker, you can trade for Ruggiano, etc, etc). But I'm not going to sit here and crucify him for missing out on free agents, especially on this f***head Santana. With the way his ownership limits him, and how unwelcoming this team looks to free agents, free agency is probably and almost entirely out of his hands.
  2. Oh grow the f*** up. This signing doesn't have a f***ing thing to do with AA's ineptitude or adequacy as a GM. The Braves got him for the exact same money that the Jays offered.
  3. Calls a guy a douche for giving some basic bitches a free limo ride and a basket of free s*** that she can sell or use as proof of having f***ed Derek Jeter in one post, uses a number to rate a girl a few posts later http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif
  4. Very typical example of an ad hominem argument. That is, discrediting an argument based solely because of the source of the argument. Just because the guy is a felon, his opinion should not be discredited, because him being a felon does not necessarily make him incorrect in saying that the world, in fact, would be better without you.
  5. McCown: Ti Canis Greek: Kala McCown: So about that HBO thing-- Greek: Look, I know a lot of people have been asking about this lately, and I'd just like to say that most of what's out there and what's getting written, it's all probably false. As for the story, well, is HBO quality television? I mean I don't think anyone is arguing that, they've got some great shows, a lot of upside, and you know, we considered it, that goes without saying, but at the end of the day, I feel like we just don't match up. The dollars and the term just don't measure up to our valuation of what we think the channel is worth. Does it mean that the dollars aren't there? I wouldn't go as far to say that, I mean the resources are there, and have always been there when we've asked, but we just don't think HBO fits with what we're trying to do right now. We got a great ownership who have always been open to new ideas, but like I said, sometimes it's just not the right fit. Does that mean we won't consider it in the future? We're always open to reconsidering our options and something could definitely be done in the future if the price or the talent matches up better with our valuation, but until then, if I want to watch Game of Thrones, I'll just torrentlol#despaired.
  6. I can't believe I'm actually saying this, just because of how ridiculous it even sounds in my head, but I think that's the best list I've seen this year. At least, it's my favorite list.
  7. No, we can't give credit to Santana that only two teams are interested in him, and both just so happen to be in the AL East. There's a reason he wants to join a club that has a good offense.
  8. I told you Santana is a f***tard. I wish he signs with some other team with that agreement that they don't QO him, and he ends up having the worst year of his career, to the point where a QO would be a huge raise on what he'd otherwise earn in his next trip to Free Agency. The team can then just say "Well you made us promise not to qualify you.. so f***off and go make league min".
  9. In this thread: an analogy of being dragged around by your pubic hair.
  10. I honestly don't care if we don't get him. If he doesn't get us to the playoffs, then he is useless, and if anything he'll get us one or two useless wins that further drop our draft position next year. For everyone.
  11. Last year it got us Hollon, Brentz and Tellez with just that one pick (thanks to how big the slot still is in the second round, and how underslot Hollon signed for), our three most valuable players from the 2013 draft. If we didn't have that pick, we quite literally would not have any of those three players. The two years prior, the 2nd rounder got us Smoral and Norris respectively, but that is a bit of an inaccurate comparison because the 2nd round happened a lot later in those drafts (the full compensation round took place before it back then), so we could have hypothetically had better players than those two with the 2nd round pick in the current draft system. With the new draft cap system, the 2nd rounder is far more valuable than almost anyone on this board gives it credit for.
  12. It's pretty simple. If he signs with us, he's going to pitch like s*** all year. If he signs with the Orioles, he's going to be a Cy Young contender. Luck of the Jay.
  13. Wow. Canadians really do have a pretty serious inferiority complex, don't we? Let's give him 75M for 1 year. ...and what's wrong with a pitcher wanting more pitching wins?
  14. They didn't know how the offseason was going to play out. If they were only ever going to get one pitcher and had something like 14m to spend, then it makes so much more sense to have gone through the entire offseason and got a guy like Santana now, than to sign JJ in November and close the book for the rest of the offseason, without knowing what opportunities presented themselves. There are plenty of legitimate arguments to be made against the Jays offseason, but it's kind of retarded to just judge what a team should do based purely on hindsight while disregarding chronology completely.
  15. Injury risk? Because he pitched only 140 innings back in 2009? http://i.imgur.com/RN70TUF.gif
  16. But you do win friends when you tell a site full of guys that you love to suck dick, don't you, Tila Tequila?
  17. Anthopoulos after Santana signs with the Orioles for 12M/1Y: "I mean, as you guys know, I can't comment directly on other team's players, but I can tell you that we definitely explored all our options and left no page unturned, and at the end of the day, we think it's a great deal for the Orioles, you know, I think Dan Duquette is a great GM, they got a good thing going on down in Maryland, but right now, for our club, the years just didn't make sense. You know, we feel like we have a really good thing here and it gives us a chance to weigh all our options, basically ride out the spring and see what we have, you know, in house, and as always, the market always heats up a bit near the end of the spring, what with the out-of-options guys, guys getting a better sense of where their teams are, you start to see a few more players hit the market, and we can definitely look into it at that point, but we feel really good about our team, you know, I think last year with all the injuries and the weight of all the pressure might have got to the guys, we still feel we have all the pieces and tools for a team that can contend in this division, we just gotta ride it out and see what we have at the end of the spring, but I feel good about this club."
  18. You will "book it", literally? Like, if he reports Santana has signed, you will throw a book at it? Or write a book about it? Or write it down inside of an already-written book? Or arrest it?
  19. Where the f*** could you have possibly found that picture?
  20. Yeah, it was a great move actually. Made the Snider trade more sufferable.
  21. You took a selfie and edited a burger over the phone? http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif
  22. What the f*** was that thing he did after he threw the pitch? Is that spazzing thing part of his delivery?
  23. I could be giving him a bit too much credit here, but I doubt he's that oblivious to not realize that "pushing to leave" is f***ing hopeless http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif
