  1. Actually you're right, he has an extra year of arbitration remaining. Makes him that much more of a strong target.
  2. Ian Kennedy. He's a free agent at the end of the year (satisfies AA's wish to get a rental), on a $6.1M deal (low prorated cost, very little payroll implication), acting like one of the best pitchers in the game (12h in the majors with a 2.88 xFIP) playing for the team that just extended Seth Smith on a two year contract (lol Padres), while being 9.5 games back (lol Padres), AFTER they fired their GM (lol Padres), who also employ Chase Headley (who fills the infield need, makes just 10.5M, and is also a free agent after 2014) It's such a no-doubter.
  3. The Rays wouldn't do that. Besides, Zobrist is their favorite player.
  4. I could waste my time and point out how you exaggerated and misconstrued almost everything in my post, but I'm not going to make the mistake of entertaining yet another fruitless debate with the resident troll. Congratulations on being the first induction into my ignore list.
  5. WHY?!? aryan cap filler
  6. Yeah I see that side of it, and I know that that's probably how he's going to be used, but unless he's going to shatter his ankle jogging out to the OF, I think he'll get a not-insignificant amount of reps in the OF as well.
  7. I don't see the Jays winning three of the next seven, in all honesty. They'll be lucky to take away a single win on this road trip with how the offense is right now, and I don't really see any outcome where they don't get swept by the Angels. Their best bet will be to hit a few homers off the Rays and hope the pitchers continue to keep it together.
  8. I don't think I disagreed with anything in your post. The Jays might use him as a platoon bat, but he isn't one, which is why I said I that he's more suited to DH, something you reiterated.
  9. Option 4: A bat has always been more important than a starter. 2B has been our biggest need since the start of 2013; the need for a bat just got amplified with the recent string of injuries, but the need has always been there, nonetheless.
  10. Edwin Encarnacion came from the waiver wire. If Reimold magically became healthy, the potential value he could contribute, along with the amount of potential Orioles schadenfreude to be had, could result in a very hilarious outcome. And if he doesn't get healthy, you lose absolutely nothing for it. I agree AA needs to make a real deal (I'd take it further and say that he needs to make at least two "real deals"), but waiver wire moves like this are what often separates pretenders from contenders. Zero risk, huge possible rewards.
  11. I f***ing love Drew Fairservice. How someone like him and someone like Stoeten can come from the same place confuses me.
  12. Reimold is not a platoon bat. He's a DH-type with some decent pop, passable plate discipline, and the ability to give you reps in the OF in a pinch (so that you don't end up with f***ing EE in LF -- whether completely irrational or not, I blame his sprints in LF as the reason for his f***ed up quad). Put him in the lineup and let him loose. See if any of the minor league success translates. Last year, he was abysmal at the majors with a 52 wRC+, but he had the same 52 wRC+ in Double-A as well. This year he's got a 149 wRC+ at Double-A in a similar sample, so you would think he's definitely improved somewhat. He's also looking a lot better in terms of plate discipline, something he has rarely ever shown, at any level.
  13. Why is everyone spamming "platoon"? He's not a platoon partner for Lind... his career splits show that he's actually slightly better vs righties than lefties, if not completely even.
  14. Very happy with this move. When I read about how the O's were running out of time to make a decision on him, I thought whoever took the chance would be a very smart team. Never would have thought the Jays would be the club. 149 wRC+ in the minors this year, the guy is killing it. You'd think the least he can do is provide slightly above replacement production at the majors, which is more than we can say for several of our current guys.
  15. Yeah, I'm done defending the Jays chances. With Edwin going down and that miserable triple-A lineup out there, I don't know anymore. All of the many shits hit all of the many fans all at once. I still think the Jays have a decent shot, and I think that they will be in a good position if they can piece together another hot streak when Lawrie, Edwin and Morrow all come back within a similar time frame, aided a lot more by any trades the team hopefully makes, but at this point it's starting to look grim.
  16. Sure. Let's get Benoit as well. Tbf, I don't think "Santos-esque" helps your argument.
  17. Soriano has been garbage, both vs righties and lefties. He isn't worth the roster spot he'd waste. Yes. Gose. Pillar. Warm body. Etc.
  18. Now that the McCarthy/Prado option is gone, AA needs to get on the phone in pursuit of Kennedy/Headley. The Padres have a s***** GM situation as well, and maybe there's a chance to exploit it. I still prefer Prado to Headley, but I feel like two separate trades always cost more than getting two guys in one trade.
  19. I really wanted McCarthy, but it will be nice to see how his 20% HR/FB on the season takes to that piece of garbage high school ball park. The only time Kevin Towers will win in a trade is if it's against the Blue Jays. Literally the only good move I can remember him making was Hill, where he flat out raped the Jays. Jays have some lovely f***ing luck.
  20. That's what f***ing hurts to see. Literally the only hole on their roster is 2B, and if the absolute worst thing about a team is that they've got Nick Punto at 2B then they're pretty much set for the entire damn season. Now they've got the pitching depth to even improve second base. Unless their players suddenly start falling to injury, the Athletics have to be the world series favorites by a country mile. Norris, Moss, Punto, Lowrie, Donaldson in the IF, Cespedes, Crisp and Gentry in the OF, and Jaso at DH. And that's with Reddick injured... I'm too lazy to check, but I would guess that outside of Punto, every single bat in the A's lineup is either on pace for a 3 fWAR season, or has had a 3 fWAR season in the past three years. Pair that with their incredible rotation, and their relief, where everyone that's good is incredible, and everyone that's bad is outperforming their peripherals, and I don't see how the A's ever lose a game.
  21. They should trade him. They don't have space for him and he's been good -- great if you go by traditional stats (ERA). He's a good depth piece, but you're wasting his value in the minors. Or they could keep Milone and sell very high on Chavez, but I wouldn't make that move unless it was a no-doubter. Literally all five guys in the Athletics rotation right now (Shark, Gray, Hammel, Kazmir, Chavez) are having career years. Which, btw, is f***ing stupid. The A's of the past few years have to be one of the luckiest teams ever in terms of guys panning out or having the best years of their career, whether it's the pitching, or whether it's Reddick, or Lowrie, or Cespedes, or Donaldson, or Moss, or Norris, Crisp, Jaso, or just about any f***ing player on their roster. Even their relief in Doolittle, Gregerson and Otero is ridiculous.
  22. http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif Pitch 6 innings of 4H - 1BB - 6K ball and get demoted the next day.
