  1. Giolito, Hoffman, Manaea -- all guys that dropped considerably in the draft because of "injury concerns". One is now the #1 prospect in baseball, the other two have just brought back Ben Zobrist and Troy Tulowitzki.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/yankees-to-sign-carlos-beltran.html http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/tigers-close-to-re-signing-victor-martinez.html
  3. So the Royals grab Cueto and have him in line to make his first Royals start against the Jays in their upcoming 4-game series. The Jays then pull in Tulowitzki, and the Royals immediately counter with Zobrist. Both of those guys should also be ready to play in that series. Jays vs Royals shaping up to be a trade deadline showcase.
  4. Trade is for Brooks and Manaea.
  5. Live streams of the Blue Jays press conference (starts now): http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/watch-live-blue-jays-press-conference-at-1-p-m-et/ http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/video/v304615983/blue-jays-press-conference
  6. As much as I agree with you, I think we're on the receiving end of this tweet: Fairservice is f***ing great.
  7. But that wouldn't work. This might. http://i.gyazo.com/cc5c6d7e99b737b3daa805d896e902b6.png
  8. Source: Rockies plan to move Jeff Hoffman to shortstop and trick fans into thinking they never traded Tulo.
  9. This is an old tweet now, but wow what a f***ing stupid comment.
  10. Dan O'Dowd is on MLB Central right now, and he says he thinks the Jays got a "one win above replacement improvement in 2015, I think maybe 3 going forward". Most GMs aren't as dumb as we make them out to be.
  11. It would be great if it wound out like the Headley deal from last season. Headley was also a pretty serious injury concern at the time, and he was sort of stagnating in San Diego (1.5 fWAR in the first half of the season prior to the trade). Tulo is pretty much doing the exact same thing this year (1.2 fWAR prior to being traded), except a lot of his value his offensive, while Headley's was defensive. A change of scenery halfway through the year seemed to rejuvenate Headley, and he ended up posting 2.7 wins over the remainder of the season in New York. It would be beautiful if we could see something similar from Tulo.
  12. I think the key in my mind is that Reyes has played in a significantly higher amount of games than Tulo (114 more games since 2012) despite being a year and a half older, and he's got two less years on his contract. While Tulo has been more valuable than Reyes over that time despite playing in fewer games, I still feel like we traded Jose Reyes 2015 for Jose Reyes 2013. That's easily a good trade in a vacuum but is it worth the price of Hoffman/Castro considering what they might be able to get you in this market for a pitcher? I'm not questioning what Hoffman and Castro might turn into, and whether or not their inclusion in this deal is justified, I just think that they could have been used for a greater need.
  13. He would get a retarded amount of money, but the question isn't what he'd get, but what you'd be comfortable giving him. I wouldn't pay him more than the 5/100 we just got him for.
  14. Yeah I don't think it's a crippling contract, but I do think it could become an irritating nuisance like the Romero deal. It should be noted that Tulo's only played in 351 games since 2012, he's coming off a serious surgery in 2014, and he's moving onto turf.
  15. I'm with BTS and Hurl here (if I didn't misinterpret their points), I think it's a decent move, but this isn't exactly the Donaldson deal. I don't think this is a slam-dunk win trade, and Tulowitzki could easily become an albatross. As big of a fan that I am of Hoffman (it wouldn't surprise me if we someday look back on keeping Norris over Hoffman as keeping Sanchez over Syndergaard) I'm not upset that we gave him up here. I just have to question whether or not he could have been moved in a deal for something the Jays needed more. I think I'm neutral on this trade until we see what other moves are made.
  16. I agree, I wasn't really being serious in my original post and I said that I think you misread it because I wasn't trying to imply that anybody's scared of trading with AA, only that they might get annoyed with him calling repetitively over the same player.
  17. I'd lead with Travis and prioritize Smoak over Encarnacion. 1) Devon Travis 2) Josh Donaldson 3) Jose Bautista 4) Justin Smoak 5) Edwin Encarnacion 6) Troy Tulowitzki 7) Russell Martin 8) Chris Colabello / Kevin Pillar 9) Kevin Pillar / Dalton Pompey
  18. For the difference between Reyes and Tulowitzki, they shed 50M in future commitments and picked up Castro and Hoffman. I don't see how you could call that a bad deal.
  19. I'm fairly certain you misread the last sentence in my post.
  20. He's so f***ing annoying lol. He's probably the guy in every fantasy league that everybody hates. I think at this point, teams only make trades with him once they're convinced (in their mind) that they're winning the deal. I think the Rockies believe that they can still flip Reyes for more prospects, maybe to the Mets themselves.
  21. Could you imagine what the perception of this offense would be if people outside of this fanbase actually understood and appreciated what Devon Travis and Justin Smoak have done for this team this year? http://cdn1.sbnation.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/2862089/wtfclips.0_standard_709.0.gif
  22. lol, LaTroy Hawkins is really excited about this trade. https://twitter.com/LaTroyHawkins32/with_replies
  23. I'm not sure if I care all that much, I just wish that if they're going to get an arm, they get one in the next two days, prior to the start of the Royals series.
