  1. That is damning. To the eye test you can definitely tell he's not doing any damage on fastballs, he either guesses right and pounds one into the ground, slaps a single the other way, or is blown away while he's getting some other pitch. This would be fine if he was otherwise crushing mistake breaking balls, but instead he makes his mind up on which pitches to swing at and then whiffs badly on breaking balls a foot away. What a sad hitter he's become.
  2. I hate Vlad. 3 fastballs down the middle that he did nothing with.
  3. Campusano is one of the least patient hitters in baseball and they’ve walked him in B2B plate appearances by not even being anywhere near the zone.
  4. Pearson looks awful. On top of the wildness, his fastball is topping out at 96.
  5. Pearson is all over the place. He’s just too inconsistent still.
  6. First three pitches were so wild it made the next 3 unhittable by them being anywhere near the zone.
  7. Pearson wasn’t close at all there.
  8. Richards’ command is killing us.
  9. Turner is so slow that Tatis could be doing cartwheels with the ball and he’s not scoring anyway.
  10. Yawn, the pitching and defense is incredible again and we get another easy W in the books. So predictable.
  11. John Schneider has been fabulous at managing late game pinch hitting opportunities and bullpen usage. He’s squeezing the most out of Ernie Clement, and isn’t afraid to flip flop him, Davis Schneider or Biggio depending on the situation.
  12. Look at his confidence in dancing off the bag, getting the easy steal in the process. 5-tool player.
  13. Swanson is still rusty, but you gotta start acclimating him back into high leverage spots I guess.
  14. What a revelation Varsho has been over the last week.
  15. Main differences IIRC: Offense: fWAR uses wRC+ instead of OPS+ for bWAR, both highly correlated and tend to not differ by much, but 1 point of OBP > 1 point of SLG, so wRC+ is a better measure since it accounts for this Defense: bWAR uses DRS, fWAR uses OAA (I think, it used to be UZR) and incorporates catcher framing into their defense, bWAR does not. Pitching: bWAR uses runs allowed and tries to account for the defense behind the pitcher. fWAR uses FIP + infield fly balls (essentially treating them as strikeouts).
  16. Aaron Judge getting booed at Yankee Stadium lol. 4 K day for him.
  17. What a weird plot. Let's just plot out two highly correlated stats on different axes, that'll tell us a lot. Why not plot out like, whiff rate vs runs scored or ISO. This chart just tells you which systems put the ball in play a lot, but tells you nothing else about them.
  18. The Jays had one of the worst offenses in the league through the first week of play. It's almost like they regressed to their mean and weren't going to be hopeless the whole time? The Yankees pitching sucked too lol.
  19. Getting two legit innings out of Genesis Cabrera is found gold.
  20. Has Varsho finally arrived? Let’s f***ing hope so.
  21. Another perfect swing from Schneider, but unfortunately his raw ability means if it's not pulled it's likely staying in the park. Too bad it wasn't him hitting with 1 out.
  22. New dimensions just stole a HR away from Bo. Beautiful oppo swing.
  23. Great performance by Gausman to build upon. Next step will just be getting the usual splitter command under control and he should be back to normal.
