    Yawn, the pitching and defense is incredible again and we get another easy W in the books. So predictable.

    John Schneider has been fabulous at managing late game pinch hitting opportunities and bullpen usage. He’s squeezing the most out of Ernie Clement, and isn’t afraid to flip flop him, Davis Schneider or Biggio depending on the situation.

    Main differences IIRC: Offense: fWAR uses wRC+ instead of OPS+ for bWAR, both highly correlated and tend to not differ by much, but 1 point of OBP > 1 point of SLG, so wRC+ is a better measure since it accounts for this Defense: bWAR uses DRS, fWAR uses OAA (I think, it used to be UZR) and incorporates catcher framing into their defense, bWAR does not. Pitching: bWAR uses runs allowed and tries to account for the defense behind the pitcher. fWAR uses FIP + infield fly balls (essentially treating them as strikeouts).

    What a weird plot. Let's just plot out two highly correlated stats on different axes, that'll tell us a lot. Why not plot out like, whiff rate vs runs scored or ISO. This chart just tells you which systems put the ball in play a lot, but tells you nothing else about them.

    The Jays had one of the worst offenses in the league through the first week of play. It's almost like they regressed to their mean and weren't going to be hopeless the whole time? The Yankees pitching sucked too lol.

    Another perfect swing from Schneider, but unfortunately his raw ability means if it's not pulled it's likely staying in the park. Too bad it wasn't him hitting with 1 out.

    Great performance by Gausman to build upon. Next step will just be getting the usual splitter command under control and he should be back to normal.

    Gausman has 11 whiffs and this is him at like 75%. The season is saved folks, playoffs should be easy to make.

    Is he throwing some kind of a sinker/2-seam? Some of these fastballs have a lot of arm-side run.

    The splitter is starting to work folks. Gausman is also mixing in the slider a bunch and it's causing a third pitch that nobody expected to be considered.

    Credit to Wells for standing three feet off the plate and Stroman hitting the glove fooling the ump into making some god awful calls, I guess. Holy f*** some of these aren't even close.

    First pitch of the game and Stroman is already getting the outside corner beyond the zone. Could be a tough day if he stays out there all game, like he did in the last at Yankee Stadium.

    Totally undressed Gleyber Torres with two rare sliders and a fastball at 98. So the velo is much better, fastball command looking good, but he's struggling to get chases on the splitter and not commanding it the best.

    He's kind of telegraphing the splitter. The hitters are basically sitting fastball and taking anything low.

    Gausman is back, painted the fastball beautifully to Judge.

    Gausman missing with the fastball, and Soto is gonna make you throw a strike.

    I think his control being s*** was more the problem than anything. His velo is probably lower as a starter than a reliever anyway so hard to make conclusions there without looking further into it.
