  1. Witt is projected to finish the season around 9-10 WAR, that would blow Tatis' 2021 season out of the water. With that said, I think Tatis' ceiling as a hitter is/was higher than Witt's, better plate discipline with 70 power whereas Witt is a 70 contact 60 power who chases (but makes contact) outside the zone a lot more. Witt is a more complete player though, elite defense at SS to Tatis who was average to bad, and both made an impact on the bases.
  2. Not sure if you just looked at the boxscore, but the Y. Rodriguez that got demolished today (and has been awful all season) isn't Yariel, it's some scrub AAAA reliever by the name of Yerry.
  3. Our pitching today is arguably worse than what he's been seeing at AAA all year.
  4. Walks too much.
  5. They're probably trying to stretch the trade being official for as long as possible so they can figure out the roster crunch from other trades going down.
  6. Gunnar Henderson is like the most valuable asset in baseball lol, he's not getting traded for Vlad and his $20+M arb salaries with not that much control left, let alone having to tack on to him. The Orioles arguably don't trade Vlad for Westburg straight up, although the Blue Jays don't do that either.
  7. I'm not sure how serious they are about selling Bassitt given his general dependability, but it's always in the cards to eat up some of his contract to improve the prospect return. I could see a Chad Green deal also having us eat some money.
  8. I mean he's a smoke and mirrors guy that throws 92-93, it's not exactly irresponsible to be over using him. Former starter, doesn't get injured all that often, doesn't throw hard, is generally mediocre so it's not like you're saving him for high leverage. Trevor Richards is perfectly cromulent.
  9. You can see how it can come across though, don’t you?
  10. Famously immature players with long locks like Andrew McCutchen couldn't make it work so good thing it was the hair that was holding him back. It was all downhill for Manny Ramirez once he grew out his hair in Boston. Jose Reyes really matured for the Blue Jays once he got rid of his.
  11. Varsho’s defense has reached an insane level. Every night it’s a blockbuster catch guaranteed.
  12. He's been throwing it most of the season to get hitters to not sit on his sinker. It...has not been yielding results.
  13. Horwitz is another in the Davis Schneider mold in that the physical tools aren't huge - Horwitz's exit velos indicate 40-45 raw power at best - but he's an absolute sweet spot fiend. Unlike the Babe however, Horwitz has enough bat control and plate discipline to put a lot more balls in play.
  14. Buehler was elite he just broke. Coming back from major injury and closing in on 30. He could be cooked, but I'd take 2024 as a throwaway anyway, 2025 is the make or break year for him to determine if he can get back to being good or this is who he is.
  15. Why not just say a Keith Hernandez profile, who is kind of the gold standard for that kind of 1B archetype.
  16. I think they basically just wanted to give them one more AB since they're both in funks so it's a low stakes time to sort of work on stuff. And as for Leo, maybe they wanted to give him a proper start so his family could be in attendance? Kind of s***** to make your debut as a pinch hitter with no one watching.
  17. I think JRam is just the classic example of a player that's good at everything but not the best at any one component. He's a great hitter but career 129 wRC+ is more really good than great, solid but unspectacular defender, incredibly smart runner but not a stolen base fiend topping the leaderboards. He'll get his laurels and hopefully he also doesn't have a drop off so he can solidify his candidacy, but you can see why this type of player might fall out of fanfare a bit more than someone with a more flashy style. Of course, the Cleveland market thing is what's holding his fame back the most, if he was a big market player you'd be getting fed Jose Ramirez down your throat on a regular basis.
  18. For what it's worth, Arenado is at 54.5 bWAR and has a ton of accolades - 8x AS, 5x Silver Slugger, 10 GG, 6 of which became platinum gloves as recognition for being the best defender in baseball. I think Coors effect will dampen him, as is the bar to clear the 3B HOF discussion, but he's up there for best 3B defenders ever with a good reputation around the league. It's a very Scott Rolen like resume, and Rolen limped to an induction. Rolen was the better player thus far obviously, but Arenado is "only" 33 so there could be a couple of dead cat bounce seasons to prop up his candidacy. If father time caught up to Goldy it's going to be on the fence. The 2022 MVP is gonna boost him candidacy massively though. If he retired tomorrow he'd probably fight it out on the ballot until the last few years, with a decent chance to make it in.
  19. Francisco Lindor is sitting at 49 career fWAR, and this is still his age 30 season. Looking like a very probably HOF, he also had a pretty impressive 7 year peak that looks a bit worse than it is due to the shortened 2020 year, and some hardware to his name - 4x AS, 3x Silver Slugger, 2x GG.
  20. Garrett Crochet is a legitimate ace. Already seems like he's been around forever, although he's only 25, but with him debuting during his draft year the White Sox only have two more years of control after this season.
  21. Judge esque oppo shot from a 5'10 (at best) guy lol. Davis Schneider is unreal, what a shot. And then Bo follows it up with a first pitch weak tapper to first base smh
  22. I don't think there's any indication here that the Dodgers think Biggio is any more than what he already is. He's at 0.5 WAR, just a warm body utility man with MLB experience that's better than replacement level and won't complain about his role if he's rarely used. His physical tools have greatly deteriorated, there's no 3+ WAR monster hiding in there or anything, and the Dodgers must know that.
  23. Vlad’s gotten a steady diet of hanging breaking balls from Rea this entire game. 0-3
  24. Figured they would test Schneider’s arm.
