    Buxton has a full no-trade clause and even when the Twins did a firesale last trade deadline he basically doubled down on wanting to remain a Twin. I don't think he's a realistic trade target.

    Bobby Witt Jr. with another somewhat under the radar inner circle HOF type of year. Coming into today with 4.7 fWAR, easily leading the AL and only behind PCA and Ohtani for the MLB lead. Added a homerun, already at 30 stolen bases for the season, increased his walk rate and is actually heavily underperforming his xStats. 2020's version of Mike Trout. This might be the year he finally picks up his first MVP after having to coexist with peak Judge the last few.

    Definitely. Gausman isn't getting you Jesus Made but he's definitely worth at least a mid to back end top 100 prospect. He's been the same pitcher for the last 3 years, and his pro-rated salary won't be that substantial if even a cheap team wants to add on some payroll to make a run. He's slotting into every possible playoff rotation in the league as at least a #2 or #3 starter.

    Khal Stephen had a pretty mediocre start to the season for Cleveland in AA and is now undergoing TJS. Don't think he's hugely missed by the FO as things stand.

    lol @ boycotting over trading a teenage pitcher that hasn't made it past A+ and probably won't reach 100 IP in a season yet at the end of 2026.

    They won't spend the price to acquire Detmers to put him back into the bullpen, especially with the issues the rotation has been having this season. The Angels are going to be valuing him like Crochet, with less upside but slightly more team control - 2.5 vs 2 arb seasons at the time of trade.

    They're probably better off with Keys/Okamoto at 1B/3B than Okamoto/Vladdy right now, lol. f*** it just hide him at second if he's too slow to play the outfield.

    Sanchez could still platoon but the existence of Springer makes it kind of tough. A Sanchez/Springer DH platoon could actually do well, but it would be kind of poor use of resources to have a DH platoon where neither can play a position anymore. He's quite good against RHP and would present a good pinch hit option, but he offsets all his offensive contribution on the field and on the basepaths. I agree that best course of action is send him packing for a random AAA reliever/4A SP, and then you have Sanchez at home in the form of Pinango if someone else goes down to injury.

    It's kind of heart warming to see how much Jasson Dominguez sucks. His exit velos aren't even special LMAO, Pinango clears him and he's a relative nobody pop up prospect, not a guy who was heralded as "the Martian".

    Piñango's defense is unfortunately rather unplayable which is why I'm not surprised by this move. It's a shame because there's things to like in the hitting profile, but it's tough to have both him and Sanchez - who is somehow an even more brutal fielder at this point - in the outfield at the same time who are two of the same player. Especially now that Lukes is healthy and performing, the options game is going to make Piñango the obvious candidate to be sent down with Sanchez making him redundant.

    Probably don't remember off the top of my head the last time that Varland, Rogers and Hoffman only pitched twice in the span of 5 days, so as far as I'm concerned the bullpen is freshly rested as if the season had just begun.

    Yankees by far. When the Red Sox are good they're generally a close second. Rays have been the ultimate pain in the ass since 2008 and they've had our number since, but it's harder to hate a team that's just smarter and better run than you, and they have no fans lol. On the other hand, the Yankees and Red Sox historically have always been able to throw money at their issues which was particularly annoying when the Blue Jays weren't flexing their financial muscle as much as they have these last few years. Both fan bases are insufferable, and they usually have a number of players that are easy to dislike. The Orioles are annoying but they're kind of the little brother of the division, wanting to be as good and successful as the rest but generally not coming close. Their fans might be the most annoying relative to team success in the division.

    Mostly luck, their Pythag W-L has them as more of a 32-35 team as opposed to their true record of 35-32. Sometimes teams with elite bullpens like the Padres can outperform their Pythag record since they're more likely to win close games, 1-run games, etc. since once they have a late lead they might be more likely to maintain it. It's mostly luck though. Their inter-league record is 14-7 and the AL has been quite weak this year, so that's helping them stay above water.

    Unfortunate for them that this was the first wrong call in MLB history, and their s***** pitchers couldn't bear with the stress of not being granted an additional, desperately needed out.

    TJStats tracks the power as unremarkable/notably below average, and vastly overperforming his contact quality, but elite contact rates, walks, good speed - 18 SB to 4 CS - and elite defense. Very interesting to see the Brewers invest so much money into low power, defense first prospects with good hit tools. Both guys have been promoted aggressively and backed it up however, so it's looking like a worthwhile gamble assuming the defense translates.

    The main thing for SWR to maintain is the location more than the stuff. Obviously when his stuff is this mediocre to begin with, 87 to 94 is a significant jump, but it's even more important that he's hitting the spots consistently. When he was serviceable for the Twins the Stuff+ was bad - 90-91 but the Location+ was 97-106. He needs above average command to be valuable or he's going to get crushed.

    Have to imagine those ankle injuries are catching up to him. Obviously he could've just peaked athletically already and is in somewhat of decline, but just in 2024 he was 89th percentile and tanked to 65th the following two seasons. His lower half might be kind of f***ed and I'm not sure if there's a way back to that. It's affecting his base running but surely it must also be affecting his hitting.

    The return of Nance is honestly a sight for sore eyes in the middle of the bullpen. Whenever Varland and Rogers are unavailable every 3 days (since they pitch every game), we've been throwing out some serious scrubs to cover those innings. Nance isn't pushing for stealing the closer role but having a decent middle reliever back never hurts. Hopefully we can add Yimi Garcia to the mix before long and our bullpen depth will be truly tremendous.

    Druw Jones is the same age that Jake Cook is now (younger, even). There's a very high chance as things stand that Cook can't even make it past AA.

    This team eats aces for breakfast. Should be an easy 5-3 win.

    That reads like Anthony Gose to me, except Gose was always quite young for the level. Yes yes I know Cook is fairly new to hitting and blah blah blah. The strikeouts are a bit concerning to me if he's to be a slap hitting CF defense demon.

    Heineman kind of ruins it, but decent looking lineup against righties. The lefty facing lineup remains god awful as long as Sosa exists, but at least Lukes can't really be any worse against them.

    You can see he was still hitting guys pretty often late in his career even after he solidified himself as a good starter. My guess is the backdoor breaking ball was clipping a lot of lefties' feet when he was aiming for the dead zone location.
