  1. FWIW Griffin seems to think he could fly with the club to TB on Monday
  2. Looking like he'll have a long career in the BP. You could've done a lot worse!
  3. Write-in Reyes. Love the energy and skill.
  4. Chances are that one of the Jays' pleasant surprises will continue to be successful. However, as a team trying to contend the Jays need to prepare as if they wont. This team lacks depth all over the diamond and that needs to change to win a WS.
  5. Start preparing as if Rogers/Lind is a fluke, Morrow will be hurt and the entire pitching staff is made of glass. That's the kind of depth needed to contend.
  6. Hedges and Jackie Bradley would have been solid picks. I don't like playing the hindsight game though. i was very happy with that draft class at the time (not signing Beede hurt that draft though).
  7. Ya, my bad. I knew the BoSox picked him, not sure why I didn't remember they picked ahead of the Jays this year.
  8. Dickey/Buehrle/Morrow are sure things. Then it's a bunch of guys best used as depth; Happ Hutchison Stroman Romero Nolin Jenkins McGuire Drabek Rogers Definitely seems like they could use an arm...
  9. Headley isn't having a great season, significantly lowers his value.
  10. A long term rotation fixture has to be the goal this deadline IMO.
  11. I'd love to add Lee if it didn't cost Sanchez/Gose and the Jays could afford to take on that kind of salary.
  12. A whole hell of a lot I'm sure. Lawrie++ for Headley and Hedges
  13. He hasn't pitched since the 9th, when he was removed from the game for precautionary reasons. I'm thinking we'll see a DL stint before he throws again.
  14. AA should be looking for a long term starter to settle the 2014 rotation anyways. If we learned anything from last off-season it is that building a team takes time and a GM needs to slowly add pieces while they are available.
  15. This is what I could dig up from the old boards (Thanks again Grant for tackling the original lists) __________________________________________________ August 2011; For all of you waiting, the list is finally here. 16. Any chance you can post last years list before you lock the thread? It would be nice to have them both in one place.
  17. Romero, Lawrence, and Deck take the mound today, Osuna is supposed to go tomorrow. Not sure who hipster Jesus is though...
  18. Ya and I think I read he had a terrible extended spring training as well. He doesn't make nearly enough contact at this point and does need to repeat the level but, I'm a big believer in the bat. I'll ride the Anderson bandwagon in to the sunset though :D
  19. I'm expecting HUGE things from my boy Jacob this year. He's going to mash +20HR in short season and open a spot in all of your hearts.
  20. Passing on Tyler O'Neil and Jon Denney in the third really irked me. AA was looking for someone to go around slot at that pick and avoided the big bonus guys
  21. I thought the plan was to start him? I could be wrong, plans change all the. That being said I expect AA will piggy-back all of them as SP early in their professional careers and move them to the BP as they grow in to that role.
  22. Crouse is quietly having a great year. Plus CF defence with 115 wRC+, .346 wOBA as a 22yo in Dunedin. He's due for a promotion soon!
  23. If they sign all of their first 10 picks and one of Brentz/Tellez it will be a B- draft IMO. People aren't happy with the number of pitchers selected but, AA went upside early and signability in the later budgeted rounds. AA didn't have the flexibility this year to have a true A+ draft but, he seemed to get value all over the board which is my main concern but, the lack of impact bats selected (especially because AA passed on a couple good ones in rounds 2/3/4) brought the quality of the draft down a bit IMO.
  24. Nah, you're not really missing anything. Guys that throw that hard with FB command and secondaries are impossible to get without paying an arm and a leg, AA can't expect him to come cheap. However as you stated there is no reason to overpay as the same pick next year will likely yield more talent. AA needs to hold firm, offer a reasonable amount but not dip in to his budget savings -- the strength of this draft relies on AA getting some of those rd +10 over-slot guys signed. OT but FWIW we could see a rotation of; Tirado Bickford Brentz Gonzales DeJong in the GCL this year. That would be an extremely fun rotation to follow.
  25. Nope, all of the AL East picks are unsigned; http://www.baseballamerica.com/draftdb/2013xrnd.php?rnd=1 Yankees - Judge and Clarkin Baltimore - Harvey Tampa Bay - Stanek, Ciuffo Boston - Ball Toronto - Bickford
