  1. He's hitting .098 and has a .170 wOBA/-4 wRC+. It doesn't matter if he was BABIPing .400 he'd still be terrible.
  2. If if's and buts were candy and nuts. He has 7 career HRs, a .069 ISO, and .319 SLG. Chances are he didn't hit 3 balls that would have left the park unless there were angels in the OF.
  3. Normally stalled by something the doctors find in the physical, not good news for MAG. Hopefully for his sake it's nothing that can't be worked out.
  4. Mid 4 ERA, decent K rates that have been better of late, and still eating innings. Things haven't been good for RA and the season isn't salvageable but, a dominant Aug/Sept would bode well for next season.
  5. I don't know if I buy that, it's a small sample. He's K'd more and walked the same amount of batters at the RC, his HR rate in unsustainably high at home and he's had some good games at home. I'm willing to chalk this up to an adjustment period for now and re-evaluate at the end of the year.
  6. Buehrle's contract; 12:$6M, 13:$11M, 14:$18M, 15:$19M Dickey's contract; 14:$12M, 15:$12M, 16:$12M club option ($1M buyout) IMO Dickey performs like Buehrle if he has another down year, definitely probably they finish 2014 with a similar ERA/FIP. However, if I think two players are similar I keep the better contract and move the more expensive asset (I'm also still not entirely convinced Buehrle even wants to be in TO).
  7. Definitely would be. I think if you ate around $5M you could get the same type of package as you would for Dickey though. Teams love his intangibles and defence.
  8. Ohh I thought that was sarcasm! I'd want want Wong + Rosenthal/Martinez + Taveras in that Bau deal. I'd try and add Ogando or Feliz in to that Edwin deal. I'd take Holland + Profar for Bau but, I;d want more for Eddy. Just feels a bit light IMO. Choo + McCann, WS
  9. Buehrle would be the guy I look to shed then. More $.
  10. I'm confused. I thought this was fun because we were playing Fantasy Land. Kind of the whole point Spanky..
  11. Averaged 190IP over the last 4 seasons and this one isn't done yet. He's been up and down this season but he's been better as of late. Still has performed as a decent back-end option. What is the $12M going to get you that is a better option than RA Dickey? JJ?
  12. I'd rather AA keep Dickey. $12M for a reliable pitcher, even a back-end guy, isn't terrible. Those innings would be hard to replace and I have no confidence in Morrow's, Halladay's or Garza's ability to stay healthy in 2014. DFA or trade JPA don't care which as C depth is always good to have. Trade Melky if there is a decent trade to be made, only give him away if you need the payroll. If you keep him and Gose/Pillar continue to perform well ship him out, hopefully with a little more value. Lind is great in this platoon role. I'd move him in a package for something bigger but, isn't a salary dump candidate IMO. Boni move him for whatever you can get. If he is around in 2014 it has to be as a super utility player and pinch runner. He should not be starting very many MLB games, even if injuries hit.
  13. Ya, we would have all made some of the dumbest trades in MLB history. You're the only one here that realizes those were bad deals. I suggest you hush your fingers and use your brain. You aren't in Fairyland anymore. No one here is suggesting gutting the team for prospects. They are suggesting shedding payroll for valuable long-term assets, then using the open payroll to hopefully improve the team and field a winner.
  14. Current dream off-season; 1. Sign McCann 2. Trade Bautista for Wong + Miller 3. Sign Choo 4. Re-sign JJ a one year deal ~$8M-10M
  15. At this point I'm rooting for individuals, not wins or losses. I don't think tanking is ever a great idea in baseball, too much uncertainty in the draft. That being said the best thing that could happen for the Jays is the dead weight performs like dead weight (showing AA he needs to replace them), the stars play like stars, and the young players and farm take a step forward. Wins will be more enjoyable to watch then the losses. The rest I'm apathetic to.
  16. Not a Graveman fan, RHP with upper 80's FB and fringe stuff, 22 in Lansing, going to have to show superb command to be an MLB starter.
  17. I think the biggest benefit to another high pick is the slot bonus, we're talking $1.35M cap difference between the 5th and 15th picks. It's a really deep draft. There should be lots of high upside guys available in the 10-15 range. The larger the cap, the more flexibility and the better chance of landing top guys especially if someone falls.
  18. Already have the 11th pick next year. In next year's deep draft two picks in the 10-15 range would be a small silver lining to a terrible season.
  19. I guess I should be more specific. Baretto's range and arm project to be below average MLB tools. The thought is as he grows he'll lose range at SS and shift, his arm doesn't suit the hot corner and is probably limited to LF/CF/2B and SS if the range stays around. As ace said Baretto is really fast and his speed may play up more in the OF on the defensive end. At 5'9", good contact, some pop and speed profiles a pretty traditional 2B.
  20. All of these rehab starts and make-up games is really making it difficult to track the guys in short season ball. I'm glad you caught that Hollon was also throwing today. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Stroman, Romero, Jenkins (GCL rehab), and DeJong take the bump tonight. Jenkins has already thrown, only 1IP, 2SO, no H, no R, no BB.
  22. Supposed to grow out of the position. Right now he is a below average defender and even before he was signed tehre was talk of sliding Baretto to 2B. He's going to stay at SS until he fails though.
  23. 14 starts so far in AA. 6HR in his first 7 starts (30IP) vs 4HR in the last 7 (45IP). Seems more like rust that a legitimate concern IMO.
  24. I wasn't down on Norris but, wanted to see him perform before getting too high on him. He's had some great starts as of late, I'd love to see him show some consistency and go on a bit of a run here. Perhaps we see him in Dunedin soon. In terms of pure tools it's hard not to love Norris' stuff. He has plus, plus Moore/Kershaw/Gio/Price-type LHP velocity. He just needs to keep refining his command and off-speed pitches. He has a chance to be very good in a few years.
