  1. How long have you had him in your dynasty league? You've been pumping his tires for awhile now. It'd be hard not to be impressed with his performance to date.
  2. Posted career slash line and SB totals. Obvious reasons why Pillar looks good. He was 23 in A-, Profar was 17. He was 19 in AA, Pillar was 24. If you look at Profar's K rate (the holy grail of MiLB stats), defence, numbers and consider age vs level it isn't really close. Point to take home here is that Pillar has had very good minor league numbers. Needs to translate to the MLB level but he's exceeded expectations every step of the way.
  3. In this day and age there is no excuse for blowing calls in the field of play. Take the extra time and get it right. The game will move fast enough as long as you balls and strikes. Overall I think it is a great step forward for the MLB and will be good for the game of baseball.
  4. That would make the team significantly better. Sign McCann and Choo in the off-season and that team is a contender.
  5. Cool Gordie, thanks for sharing. How was your experience at the stadium? I've heard nothing but good things so far. Hoping to catch a game next season..
  6. I'd imagine quality of competition would be a big part of it as well. I'm not sure if this has been tested but you would think run differential per win would be different in the AL East vs AL Central.
  7. IMO there is very little chance Hollon starts the year in Lansing. Going on past BJ progression patterns I think he'll start in either Bluefield or Van City possibly finishing the year in Lansing. Also Hollon is a late '94 Bday so maybe he gets promoted a little sooner as he is older than most of the recent draft class.
  8. Has a worse catcher ever gotten 300AB's in a season? JP has to be a lock for the worst C ever to get 3 seasons of +300 AB's...
  9. Ya, he finds supposed fatal flaws with prospects really early and then doesn't change his mind even when presented with evidence supporting the contrary. As an entertainer though his snarkiness is legendary.
  10. Ya, sorry I missed that part of the question. I can't see this being an issue though. By all accounts Beede's decision to return to school was amicable. This isn't a Paxton like situation. If he's going top 10 I doubt the Jays have a problem paying him now and there shouldn't be hard feelings. Perhaps Beede was thrown off by the fan backlash against him but, there isn't a fan base out there who wouldn't be upset at their 1st rounder walking away from a huge bonus.
  11. I've never gotten on the Law bandwagon, I find him too stubborn in his opinions. Good to know though, he has to be one of the few national sources that doesn't have him top 5.
  12. Don't really need to talk about Gose, if he hits he'll be an AS, if he doesn't he'll be a 4th OF'er. 22 in AAA and he's still getting on base at a decent clip and playing plus defence in CF. K rates are back up though. Jimenez has sneaky upside. I don't really trust scout's defensive evaluations either, he'll need a large MLB sample to cement himself as a defensive whiz. That being said a number of former MLB C have seen the D and rave about it, I'm going under the assumption they know what they are talking about (a big if, I know). If the defence is as good as advertised and he puts up a 100 wRC+ he'll be a 3-4 WAR player. I see him more as a 1-2 WAR notch above replacement level guy right now though.
  13. I'd love that trade. I don't buy WD as a legit SP option but he can be used for spot starts and as a long man out of the pen effectively a la Rogers/CV.
  14. Cash and a 40-man spot. Boni was a replacement level player, there should be 5-6 guys that can replace him in the off-season.
  15. All sound like AA kind of targets.
  16. I can see one of them dropping, it's going to take an injury or bonus demands to scare teams off. Happens every year though. Still a long ways to the draft and a lot of things can change.
  17. Realizing now it's Bluefield, Van and Dunedin I get to listen to some of the games on the radio. Not GCL, must have just been talking about Hollon and remembered it as a GCl broadcast. My apologies.
  18. Internet radio, always from other teams.
  19. Because of Burns' proximity to the majors, fairly high floor and some upside I can understand the case for top positional prospect. IMO best case scenario is he is an average starter which is definitely better than most players in the upper minors but I lean towards upside. I'll take the huge upside and extremely high floors of Jimenez and Gose over Burns for sure.
  20. I'm really hoping one of Rodon or Beede drops to 10. Obviously at this point it's early in the draft process but, I think both are front-end SP's.
  21. All in short season A ball though. I'd take Burns over Dickie Joe as well.
  22. Been listening on the radio when he pitches. Announcers seems to love his stuff, been a bit all over the zone as expected from someone his age. Haven't come across any GCL video of him yet though.
  23. I'll take Barreto, Pillar, Gose and Jimenez over Burns. That being said he's probably the Jay's best MIF prospect outside of short season A ball.
  24. Remember you are making s*** up.
  25. If he fails at Ole Miss then he'll commit to baseball fully. It sucks that as Jays fans we have to root for him to fail but, he isn't going to be an MLB player playing a couple months a year before the football season starts.
