  1. Beer vendor wearing the shirtsey with "BEERMAN" on it is good stuff.
  2. Man, Vladdy with a mental mistake there, with the runner on 3rd, he needed to go 3-6-3 there.
  3. He's tossing some meatballs up there today so far.
  4. Not a particularly encouraging start from Ryu there. That was a pretty bad pitch.
  5. I'm in for a draft and hold...
  6. Generally feel much better about the deal after watching that video (I was generally neutral before). There is stuff to work with here, too bad it's a shortened spring, hopefully the hitting coaches can correct that launch angle.
  7. I have to think this is a guy that Shatkins identified as being a tweak or two to his swing away from being a more solid player. Also, he's a "hit it on the ground and beat it out" kinda guy (according to some of the stuff I've read...) so his numbers probably weren't inflated TOO much by Coors...
  8. We were never going to get much for Grich. He doesn't have much trade value at all.
  9. Hey, welcome to baseball! (join date 2015? weird!) You've picked a pretty good site for fans with advanced statistical knowledge. Generally, average is no longer considered an important stat (it has some value, but not that much). While you can get some information from all stats, the ones I personally tend to use mostly are wRC+ (which is a scale where 100 is exactly average, above 100 is better than average by x percent, and below 100 is below average by x percent) WAR (I prefer fWAR from Fangraphs as opposed to bWAR from Baseball Reference) and wOBA. Here's Tapia's Fangraphs page which will give you a much better idea of what he brings to the table than average.
  10. Palacios is on the 40 man, Smith isn't. Given that, I'd suspect Palacios would be the one coming north. I've been thinking of the past few days that he might be the lefty bench bat they wind up with... The last season where he had any real playing time (2019) he had a 134 wRC+ in AA as a 23 year old, the team obviously likes him since they've kept him on the 40 man for a while now, he's got a bit of speed (15 SBs in 2019) and he can play all three OF positions. He's not having a very strong spring so far (at least from what I've seen), but I feel like there might be something there; at least enough to perhaps be a 4th/5th OH, LHB type.
  11. Wouldn't hate that at all. He's still got an option as well.
  12. With the 28 man roster in April, there's a good chance he'll make the team (assuming they want to make the 40 man roster move). It'll at least give the brass a month to watch him.
  13. CF camera appears to think this game is an action scene from a Ridley Scott movie...
  14. Pruned several messages here. Try to control your baser urges, ya bunch of neanderthals!
  15. Well, it's a terrible rule that doesn't make sense, so the name is fitting!
  16. Oh Lansing Lugnuts hat, you are sorely missed.
  17. All things being equal, I'd probably take Ray over Gausman (though, that may be more a "devil you know" thing, since they really are pretty close talent level), but I take Chapman over Semien and Kikuchi over Matz, so I like this year better.
  18. Non zero. But like, barely. I suspect he'll be a fine 4th OF as usual. He'll run into a few key bombs, and Buck will be thrilled when he gets 81 RBIs again, but we'll be happy when he's not in the lineup.
  19. I didn't say "bounces BEFORE the plate". If it crosses the plate in the zone, then bounces that's a strike, even if the "optics" of a wicked breaking ball in the dirt is "bad". That's what Siddal was talking about, I assume.
  20. "Wouldn't be good for the game if you see bounced pitches called strikes" I mean, if they cross plate in the zone, that would be GREAT for the game.
  21. Happy that Dasan Brown is getting some playing time in a televised game.
  22. Yeah, it would be very nice if we could get a decent contribution from Biggio this season. He's got it in him to be a solid regular.
  23. Meh, "we need to ditch our 3rd string catcher" doesn't inspire a lot of panic in me
  24. Grich w/ the slam. Love that! Maybe this will finally be the year he puts it al.... hahahahaha sorry, couldn't finish that.
  25. He didn't look hurt, didn't seem like the sort of thing that would have pulled him from a regular season game. Spring training, might as well pull him (I think they can put him back in later once he's patched up too, or maybe that's just pitchers...)
