Yep, I'm high on Biggio, I'm not low on Espinal. They'll make a great platoon because they're both good players. Espinal will get virtually all of the backup IF gigs, so he'll get LOTS of starts, even if Biggio plays the vast majority of 2B games.
I get that it would suck losing the DH, but how often does your starting catcher go down due to injury? I can't remember the last time a catcher left a game I was watching (that wasn't a pinch hit/run situation).
Wasting an entire roster spot on this remote possibility doesn't seem awesome to me.
Well, yes, obviously you'd like it to be located better, but the split is his strikeout pitch, and it's good enough that guys will miss it even if they know it's coming. Seems weird not to use it in that spot.
