  1. Is it in super poor taste if I request a North Korean insight?
  2. As one of the token lefties on the board, I have to say that I'm very triggered that you didn't say Happy Holidays, and I'm going to complain to the mods about this... Also, Merry Christmas, you filthy animals.
  3. Also, I'm pretty sure that at no time ever was Handsome Jake the Jays' #3 prospect...
  4. It's so funny how for such a HUGE trade, pretty much none of the players ended up being all that good.
  5. Jim Hughson was the best TV play by play guy the Jays have had since I started watching in 1989.
  6. I did actually wonder if he spoke w/ Martin about Canada/The Jays at any point before agreeing to the deal (or during their time together, so he'd know in advance what it was like...)
  7. Hey, get the f*** off my lawn, alright?
  8. Defensive numbers aren't typically the most reliable, just hard to measure... but Grichuk is SLIGHTLY below average by the numbers. The eye test tells me that he's a good RF and passable CF. Interestingly, last year the numbers showed that Teo was a positive fielder in LF, and also slightly below average in CF. Eye test suggests he's worse than Grichuk at both corners and CF (with the exception of his arm, which is positively Bautistian). LGJ also is slightly below average by the numbers in LF (but just f***ing awful in the infield, though that's heavily skewed by whatever brain farts he was having this year at 2B) Looking at extremely small sample sizes, The numbers show that Fisher is good/excellent in the corners and ghastly in CF, same for Alford. Alford, however, wins the eye test, though I am unabashedly #teamAlford (yes, still.)
  9. You are REALLY selling Ryu short here. The only thing that keeps him from being considered one of the top pitchers in baseball is health issues. He is an ace when healthy. Obviously he's getting into the danger age for pitchers, but because he's not a guy that relies on velocity (or a trick pitch that is great one day and completely out of control the next) he PROBABLY won't decline as much as a guy who relies on blowing it past hitters. The only reason he didn't get a nine figure contract, and the only reason the Jays could afford him, is because of his injury history.
  10. I'm 100% positive I still have Sky High, and relatively sure I still have Back 2 Back... Don't have anything on which to play them, but y'know...
  11. I think we have to really hope that Pearson develops into that #2 pretty quickly. Personally, I think he's shown enough to suggest that he will get there for us.
  12. You'd have to be 100% sure that you could sign Betances before this is something you even think of possibly considering...
  13. That'd be kinda a weird deal for the Jays to consider... Our bullpen is inarguably our weakest spot, dealing from there for a moderate upgrade to the OF for 1 year doesn't really do anything for me. Unless you see something in Chargois that I'm not seeing...
  14. I'd rather not use up a roster spot for a Shaw platoon partner (which, let's face it, would probably be Drury), but we have enough positional flexibility to sit him against most LHPs and not need someone specifically for that role. As it stands right now 4/5 of our OFs are RHBs, and Gurriel at least can cover the infield if needed.
  15. Steamer has Espinal with a projected wRC+ 6 points lower than Iglesias and 1 point lower than Hech for 2020, I don't know enough about his D to answer this question myself, is the basically negligible difference in the bat offset by D that much? Also, I didn't notice this, but apparently Espinal played 101 innings in CF last year...
  16. He's a serviceable #3. Which is what he likely is after May/June this year. This is interesting, I wonder how much extra cash Rogers pockets from this... Interesting bit that hadn't occurred to me.
  17. All of Grichuk, Hernandez, and LGJ have the potential to be 2+ WAR guys in 2020.
  18. I think it means Giles is a Jay until at least the trade deadline. They're going to need to add some pen pieces that are more than just "guy to hopefully flip at the deadline" now, also.
  19. One would think he'd be first on the chopping block. One would also HOPE that he'd be first on the chopping block.
  20. I mean, if Ryu were to be healthy all season and get rocked every start that would be incredibly shocking. But yes, I suppose it is possible, just like it is possible for Cole, Wheeler, Strassberg etc. to become total garbage with no warning signs of that happening.
  21. 4/$80 was what I thought it was going to take to get him, it's a bit too much AAV and a year too long, but it was always going to take us doing that, so I'm happy w/ the move.
  22. Source? Or just something you've heard/sussed out?
  23. I'm quite fine jettisoning Urena into the sun, I'm a LITTLE bit intrigued by Valera, but not enough to really care that much. I'm not really up on Espinal's fielding, but if he can capably backup SS, his bat would seem to play.
  24. Nice, I'm very okay with this signing. IMO, infield is set. Thanks for the memories EE, but you're superfluous on this team.
