    Fisher just does not pass the eye test at all as a fielder, just... bobbled that ball and that was a play anyone should make cleanly.

    Hard to take someone seriously when they don't even know what a mullet is. And you want to replace 11 players and "spend money" on their replacements? So... what... $150M on middle relief?

    If you go back to the pre-season posts, I wanted Pillar traded because I thought Alford would put up similar numbers, and would cost less. I still stand by that, I feel given the playing time he'll D and Speed his way to a couple of WAR. I don't expect him to be an allstar, just a useful piece, and better than McKinney. Fisher has LOOKED awful in the OF when I've watched him, he certainly fails the eye test. I don't think there's really enough of a sample size to judge his numbers on D, but I've seen some bad routes and some awkward plays beyond just the ball to the face bit.

    Did you notice the subtle, but appreciable difference in his stance/setup last night vs/ the previous ABs? He seemed a lot less rigid, and wasn't turning his back as much to the pitcher.

    As shown last night, he has the speed to beat out a lot of grounders that would be outs for most players, which could lead to a higher than average BABIP (probably not .400, but still...) He's got great speed, and can play D, and might bring an average/slightly below average bat with him, and he makes the league min. I don't see a downside to keeping him as the 26th man next year (given our current options).

    Alford has at minimum 2 tools that are above average, while McKinney doesn't appear to have any.

    I don't hate Fisher. I hate McKinney and Davis though, so those guys can f*** off and give up time for Alford.

    Compared to the other options that are getting playing time? At least Alford has a floor of "solid defensive OF". Honestly, a good defensive CF with a slightly below league average (a reasonable expectation given his numbers since mid-May this season) bat with speed and who is pre-arb should be a guy we want to have a look at.

    I mean, if we're getting a prospect just to take on the contract, than I'm all for it. The way this was phrased was "we wouldn't have to give up much to get him" and "the Yankees would save $5M" not "We'll take the contract off their hands if they sweeten the pot". I'm all for the latter, though that doesn't really seem like a Yankees kinda move.

    Even if he's completely broken, they would have made this move, he doesn't need to pitch at all for the rest of the season, just has to be on the roster.

    We all have some good memories of EE, but do we really want a 37 year old DH making $20M for next year? People on here are bitching about Grichuk making $10M when at least he has some positional flexibility and is 10 years younger, I just don't see the appeal of EE in 2020.

    You know we'd be bringing him back as part of an effort to win, right?

    But that's why I said nobody we had 10 years ago is comparable to those guys, it's a whole different game velocity wise now.
