    Signing Betances is about hopefully having someone good that we can flip at the deadline for parts, the theory being that we get more if we trade Giles now and Betances at the deadline than we would just trading Giles at the deadline. You obviously don't sign him if the medicals look bad.

    I don't think he's necessarily worth 4/$80, but I think that's what it might take to get him to Toronto, and I'd be okay with that. Substantially more in dollar value, or even 1 more year and I'm probably out.

    Yeah, most reports suggest he doesn't use his slider (reportedly his best pitch) enough.

    I'd absolutely trade them at the deadline/before the deadline if the right players were coming back (and if we had internal options that were as good/better, or the players coming back would be as good/better in the near term...)

    He's probably going to spend a month or two in A, then a promotion to AA for most of the year, probably won't sniff AAA, even if he pitches incredibly well, until September.

    That's the thing, you're not sure... Roark and Anderson are known quantities, they're here to raise the floor of the rotation.

    Manoah has 17 innings as a professional, it's extremely unlikely that we'll even see him in AAA this year, much less in the MLB after mid-April...

    It's not free though, Price's salary is a debit and his productivity is a credit, and right now he's deeply in the red. The theory is that they're selling a bad asset, not that they're giving up a positive one for nothing.

    None specifically, it's more of a thought experiment of what it would take to swallow the Price deal.

    We don't want Price, we want the prospects that come with Price and would be taking him back to get them.

    Price was worth 2.3 WAR last season, and Teo 1.2, and that was after his abysmal first half. If he plays as well all season in 2020 as he played after he was recalled in 2019, he should be in the ~2-3 WAR area. Price hasn't hit 3 WAR since 2016.

    It's not unreasonable that Teo could out WAR Price next season, so no, I'm not even considering this. If we were to take Price back, it would be for someone just outside Todd's Top 4000 prospects, AND we'd be getting back 2 of their top 10 (probably 1 and 2, since their system sucks balls).

    I would hope it wouldn't be that much, the point would be to swallow Price's horrid contract, and to offload that, the Sox would have to sweeten the pot considerably...
