  1. The next question is what would it take to get him? I saw someone on MLBTR suggest 5/50 which is peanuts (UNLESS HE'S RANDALL GRICHUK WHOSE CONTRACT IS THE BIGGEST TRAVESTY OF ALL TIME!!!), and at that price I like him more than Wong, and maybe even more than Lindor (depending on how that would shake out in terms of assets we gave up in trade + eventual contract). He definitely meets a team need, IF he can hit that velocity...
  2. His numbers are fantastic, but I have absolutely no idea how KBO numbers generally translate to the MLB... Even if KBO was AA quality, at 25 he looks like a good bet to put up reasonable numbers, but someone else might be better suited to suggest how the numbers might play out.
  3. He's got 2 options, and a plus fastball (apparently) and he was free, so... I'm okay with this.
  4. The Dodgers moved Stripling because they didn't have room for him. The Jays traded for him because he was an upgrade for them. The Dodgers are the best team in baseball, so a player they move isn't necessarily bad, just worse than THEIR other options. I also think Williams has potential, but "the one that got away" was obviously not meant to be taken seriously. This isn't like trading Syndergaard.
  5. From that scouting report: OFP: 50 Role: 50 - #4 - #5 Backend SP Risk: High So, we gave up a projected 4 -5 backend SP who is high risk and in rookie ball for a 4-5 backend SP who has some risk but already at the MLB level. That's not a deal I think we're going to even remember in 5 years, frankly.
  6. Agreed, but my point was I don't agree with the idea that "we don't need Lindor, because we're going to get 3-4 wins from Gurriel". (Obviously a paraphrase, but that was the sentiment.)
  7. "3 wins should be well within his grasp" and "I think he has every chance to be in the 3-4 WAR range" are pretty much the same thing, so y'know...
  8. I mean, I'd love it if we got 3 to 4 wins from LGJ, but like... I don't think you can plug that number in as a guarantee at this point. The two Projections on Fangraphs have him at 2.0 and 1.9. I think he has every chance to be in the 3-4 WAR range, but I don't think it can be assumed that he automatically will.
  9. I'd happily surrender our version of Drabek, Tailor (or Walrus) and D'arnaud for Lindor. What's that like, Kloff, Moreno and Will Robertson? (Edit: I mostly made this post to remind everyone about Brett Walrus).
  10. For what it's worth...
  11. If we got both Lindor (+ extension) and Springer, I have to think Wong is probably off the table...
  12. I'm skeptical that LeMahieu will be worth $20M at age 37, I don't blame the Yankees for balking at a 5 year deal.
  13. Not the worst idea, he's pretty much average across the board, but only 28 and there's some room for improvement there.
  14. I was intrigued when it was a new stadium... But like the Rogers Stadium Condo Shopping Mall and Cremation Services (with a baseball stadium somewhere 'round back) is a pretty hard pass from me. Remember, Rogers doesn't own the land, just the building.
  15. Hope they have some sort of retractable roof design, it just makes sense in Toronto for spring and fall games. I don't hate The Dome as much as most seem to, but I'd be interested in seeing what they come up with.
  16. You mean stop being a racist wanker...
  17. He doesn't need to be a fitness model, just needs more flexibility and mobility. Doesn't bother me at all if he's a chubster, as long as he's a chubster who can hit and make plays wherever he ends up in the field.
  18. Jan/Feb seems wildly optimistic... Approval and manufacture (and which vaccine?) still needs to happen, and that takes time, and we're 40 days from January. Also, if what I'm reading is accurate, it's a 2 dose vaccine 1 month between doses (though I haven't been following that closely, and that might not be every candidate.) I mean, that would be amazing, but I don't see how the timing works out. Realistically, though, they don't need fans in the seats to start the season, just need the players/coaches etc vaccinated... And making sure that all visiting players/coaches etc are also vaccinated. Fans by mid-late summer depending on how things play out.
  19. During my Covid/Covid related health issues this year, I was prescribed an opioid cough syrup (Hydrocodone). It was fun as f***, but I wouldn't take more than 1 refill because I was too worried about the risk of addiction.
  20. I don't think that counts as playing "over" him. Over implies you have both options and you're picking one over the other...
  21. They're not wrong that we have pitching depth, but they are wrong that we should concentrate on other things now. I'd like to see at least one more medium-large pitching acquisition. I don't think we necessarily NEED one of the better pitchers on the market, but it sure as s*** would be nice to get one. If we don't get one of the top tier guys, we DEFINITELY need someone from the second tier.
  22. I think Shoemaker would be a great fit if we bring him back as well, but he probably gets about ~$5M (though, who knows anything about this market really) so the difference of $3M is absolutely not going to make or break your chances with Bauer (and if it does, we likely don't have enough to spend to field a playoff team) if you like Ray more than Shoemaker (I don't claim to know who Shatkins prefer out of the two...) If we're honestly worried about $3-4M in difference here, we're not going after Bauer regardless.
  23. I can't imagine that they spend $8M on Ray if they thought they would end up $8M short on Bauer. They already have a dollar figure for Bauer with which they are comfortable, and aren't going to blow that right out of the gate (unless they absolutely know Bauer wouldn't sign with Toronto, or they value him considerably less than they suspect he'd get.)
  24. Yeah, Ryu and Bo s*** the bed because of the momentum. That's the ticket.
  25. Well, that was a f***ing awful game and series. And yeah, it's f***ing over now, sorry guys, they're not coming back from this at all, and I can't listen to these f***ing TBS announcers being all giddy anymore.
