  1. I'm not super stoked about either of those guys though, Bauer is going to get more money than I think he's worth, and Realmuto is a solution looking for a problem, rather than an area of real need.
  2. With the Mets (presumably) out now, who are the other suitors for Springer? Might have to accept what the Jays are offering, or try for a pillow contract.
  3. So, Kim and Sugano, two of the guys I really wanted, are out... So like... Springer or I'll cry?
  4. Giving up multiple (good) prospects for 1 year of ANY player is simply no longer considered smart baseball business. A billionaire playing with his new toy shouldn't change that.
  5. I'd still take him over Joe West...
  6. Nordberg really got a hell of a makeover...
  7. Here is a list of qualified players in 2001 sorted by age. There were four qualified players under the age of 23 in 2001. There were 8 in 2019. It's still not really all that common, but it was less so 20+ years ago.
  8. This is 100% just based on memory from 20 years ago but like, wasn't it RIDICULOUSLY uncommon for guys in their early 20s to be in the show back then? Like, considerably less common than it is now? This same comment applies to the Delgado thread as well, since it's the same f***ing thread
  9. I mean, good chance that Bo *IS* a franchise cornerstone. I don't think he'd make a bad 3B, and you obviously move him there if you do get Lindor, but it wouldn't even be all that shocking if Bo had a better 2021 than Lindor (not that I expect it but projections have them off by 1.1 WAR, which isn't that much of a difference over 162 games...)
  10. This is recency bias, he made two big mistakes in the playoffs in 2020, and that's all you can remember about Bo at SS.
  11. IIRC first Jay in the HOF, correct?
  12. Uhh, I thought that was a George Brett thing...
  13. Vlad's age, and the fact that he appears to have been seriously humbled last year, give me hope that he can at least be a BETTER third baseman than he's shown, but we'd better get used to seeing him out there, 'cause if Charlie Montoyo is saying publicly that Vladdy is going to play third, Vladdy is going to play third. Chuckles isn't the kinda guy to keep his cards close to his vest.
  14. Martín Giménez Headshot is a pretty dope name for a player... Also, I mean... "learning to recognize breaking pitches" 'cause he's 16...
  15. It's never too early to work on launch angle...
  16. Who is your cost-control #2 if it's not Sugano, Tanaka or Paxton? Also, I have a hard time believing Pearson isn't in the rotation for the majority of the year (though, he may be on an innings limit, I'm not sure...)
  17. Apparently the Jays won an award named for Bud Selig. Somehow it's not the "less awful compared to current standards, but still just terrible" award.
  18. The new market inefficiency is putting players on your 40 man roster, so you can get like $100K from some KBO team...
  19. I just assumed he'd be aiming higher than that, but if I'm wrong and he takes 3/20-24 then I could get on board.
  20. I want Kim, but as a 3B/Utility guy. And Bradley just doesn't move the needle much for me, I think he'll get more money than he's worth. I mean, if you could get him for 3/30 I'd probably be interested, but I doubt that's his number. He's just the kinda hitter that I think benefits from Fenway a bit too much for me to want to pay real money for him. Undoubtedly a good fielder, but how will that age?
  21. My CF preferences are as follows: Springer >>>> What we already have > Kim > Bradley.
  22. "could" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. I'm not okay with grabbing someone who's never played CF and saying "there, now our CF problems are solved!"
  23. It's not really germane, more of an aside but the difference in career WAR between Olerud and Alomar is 6.3 over 17 seasons. And Alomar played 145 more games. Yeah, Robbie was the better player for several reasons, but the way you phrased that makes it sound like it's a huge gap, when the difference was ~0.35 WAR per season. Olerud was a fantastic player.
  24. There may not be a player in baseball that would benefit more from roboumps than Biggio.
  25. Yeah, Springer/Kim/Sugano (and ideally another mid-tier starter, and a few good bullpen pieces) would be my ideal off season. I've kinda soured on the Lindor idea, I just think he's going to cost too much in terms of human capital and future salary. He's objectively a great addition to the team, but what else could those players and that money buy?
