  1. Since there's no objewctive standard for what qualifies for the HOF, "current culture" is always going to be the criteria. There are a lot of guys in the hall that we look at now and think "man, that guy was not good..." but by the measures of the time, he was. There are also players we look at and say "how are they NOT in based on the numbers?", but at the time they weren't considered great.
  2. Who doesn't prefer a good JO?
  3. The one with McCain Punch?
  4. If you've got the last name Biggio and you are going to school in Texas, you can tell them you want to play WR and you're going to be playing WR. Not that I'm disputing that he's a good athlete, just that his last name carries a lot of weight.
  5. Sugano almost definitely signs first, he has to sign by early January... I could absolutely see Bauer holding out until the day before spring training starts.
  6. I think there is a lot of potential value in Kim/Sugano signings. I would be really happy if we got both of them (and made a few additional moves as well...)
  7. There are two pitchers with the last name Gray, so one of them is going to have to change it to avoid confusion. Sonny Fuchsia has a nice ring to it.
  8. Noice. Now don't blow it by picking something other than "Spiders".
  9. I'm not biting at that price. May just be me, but I've never thought Snell was likely to repeat his 2018 season.
  10. I would also like almost 200 million dollars. I think I have about as good a chance of getting it as Realmuto does.
  11. Jays can really easily walk away from Lindor, and then Cleveland gets nothing (well, a draft pick). There aren't a lot of suitors beating down their door.
  12. Honestly, if there's a significant piece moving along with LGJ, I'm kinda out. Indians have no leverage here, so there's no reason the Jays have to send anyone we'd care about about along with Lourdes to get a deal done... Even if there is a deal to negotiate an extension, all the Indians are giving up is 1 year of a player they will absolutely not have after next season. Any "negotiation window" shouldn't increase what Cleveland gets.
  13. Realmuto is a solution in need of a problem for the Jays. Yeah, there are things that can happen in the event he falls into the Jays lap, but he'd have to come down significantly in price for those things to make sense for the Jays. They just don't need him with the current roster.
  14. Where does the idea that Biggio could play CF come from? He's not a good outfielder by either the numbers or the eye test. He CAN play OF in a pinch, but he's a negative defender at every position but 2B. Edit: Not specifically singling you out, this isn't the first time I've heard this suggestion.
  15. Springer + Kim, then like Paxton, Sugano and a couple of decent BP arms would be an offseason that would make me happy. I would also like a pony and for my Heart & Stroke ticket to win the jackpot, while I'm in wish mode...
  16. Well, it would depend on dollar amounts... I'd do 5/50 w/o much hesitation.
  17. I'm pretty sure the bid system was replaced with the current system that pays the NPB/KBO team a percentage based on the contract signed... 20% of the first $25 million 17.5% of the next $25 million 15% of any amount above $50 million That's from : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_system I don't think there are closed bid/negotiations anymore for either league.
  18. The more I think about Kim, the more I like him as a fit for the Jays. And the price range that I've seen (5 years, $40-60M) is reasonable and well within the budget. Don't know if I'd go much higher than 5/$60 for him, but don't think that would be required. Yes, Lindor is a MUCH better player, but he will cost a LOT in terms of prospect capital + an extension (and if we didn't extend him, that would be a disaster of an acquisition...) and I think Kim + what is bought with the extra money we didn't give to Lindor might end up improving the team more. MIGHT.
  19. Do I strike you as a serious person?
  20. You probably stole it!
  21. I guess the fact that I lost my Lugnuts hat can stop bothering me...
  22. "pitch has zero vertical break, but does have horizontal break..." "That's a cutter" WRONG! SINKER!
  23. I want him to play 3B too, but he's gotta prove that he can...
  24. MLBTR lists the Jays as "reported to have interest in Kim" https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/12/latest-on-ha-seong-kims-posting-date.html
