  1. What a weird fangraphs page... Jumped 3 levels last year after not pitching at all in 2020 or 2021, has a total of 28 professional games (18 starts) and he'll be 25 this year. I'm guessing lots of injuries, but some of the numbers look quite good in ridiculously small sample sizes.
  2. Stoked to see what this kid can do this year!
  3. I guess they don't like Spencer Horrowitz then...
  4. Everyone seems to forget that Bauer was very loudly flouting the sticky stuff rule (about the time he got actually good), and we haven't really seen what he'll do now that it's being actually enforced. And it'll be enforced even harder on Bauer simply because he dunked on Manfried the Flaccid. He's now older, and can't use the thing that basically made him a good pitcher...
  5. Seems like an MiLB signing with an invite at best...
  6. This is what I'm talking about right here. This isn't going to get a reaction out of anyone, unless a bored eye-roll is a reaction. This is just basic, pointless trolling. You do actually have the ability to discuss baseball intelligently, you just choose to do stuff like this and waste everyone's time.
  7. peterkim is the account that ensures Term will never be considered the most boring troll.
  8. I have a seat from Exhibition Stadium. It's one of those "one day, I'll use it" kinda things that I've had for almost 25 years now
  9. Decent enough little article on the Jays catching history.
  10. Okay, let's not turn this thread that started as a trainwreck into a dumpsterfire folks. We don't need to re-litigate the same five f***ing things over and over and over again like the last Bauer thread.
  11. If you're called up on a minor league deal, you can't be sent back down without going through waivers. The suggestion was that you'd have a contract where the player could still be optioned, if they agreed to it.
  12. There's really nothing for Lukes or Lopez to do in AAA at this point, the MLB experience probably has more value than the playing time in AAA would for them, unless you expect any of them to be full time regulars with a bit more seasoning (which I do not). I'm certainly down with signing some MiLB contracts w/ invites to some interesting guys, but I'm not sure you're going to get more from a new signing than you'd get from Lukes or Lopez in those spots.
  13. Radio Scouts flew too close to the sun...
  14. A few years back I came across some forum posts from before Adams debuted in the MLB, and there was a fair bit of hype or him from the community... Just trippy to see it after the fact.
  15. There's an expectation of effort.
  16. I thought we didn't start THIS thread until opening day?
  17. I hope the team has even more fun on the bench next year, especially when they're losing.
  18. It's been slow on the minor league signings, but that's a really nice one to start with!
  19. I'm allowed to be racist against short people, my wife is 4'9"
  20. I thought the Pentaverate was alright. Certainly relies on a lot of Mike Myers mainstays, but it's a bit of an interesting take on the "secret society that actually runs the world" trope. If they do a second season (might be challenging given where it left off, but they've made sequels that made less sense) I'd probably watch it, but it wouldn't be on my "must watch right away" list.
  21. Yeah, he will. Probably not a lot, but he certainly will get some starts behind the plate. Almost every team in baseball has a craptacular backup catcher, we've got 3 dudes in AAA who could fill that role should the need arise, it's super, super low on the list of things we need.
  22. I hope it's not the Jays.
  23. He just turned 35, and he has pitched a total of 19 innings in the past two years. Sure, take him on a minor league deal with a spring training invite, but it would be pretty nuts to give him any guaranteed money.
  24. Jansen's underlying numbers don't show any real batted ball luck, in fact his numbers earlier in his career consistently showed terrible batted ball luck compared to the results. I'd rarely ever bank on a player repeating a 140 wRC+, but it's definitely possible that Jansen could reach that. He also projects as a 120 wRC+ hitter, which is really good. w/r/t second base, projections show Cavan at 106 and Whit at 98, one is above average, the other is a tick below average, neither is "below average hitting by far". Bo's career wRC+ is 127 and 120 is the lowest number he's put up in any season, he swings wildly, but he gets amazing results. In a down year, Vladdy still posted a 134 wRC+, and projections have him at 166 (whether or not he meets that largely depends on his launch angle, IMO, so hopefully he's improved that a bit during the off season). I have absolutely no concerns about this team scoring runs, and I think the pitching, defence, and base running have all improved.
  25. I agree with your rankings, though I disagree that we'll have another key signing. I don't think we see a signing that hits 8 figures from here on out. I'm bullish on this team as is, and I bet a few minors guys impress in the spring.
