  1. And you don't seem to realize that they could of gotten salary relief along with some better prospects.
  2. J.J has one year left and Buerle has 3, only Reyes has a lengthy contract. If your admitting it was a salary dump what are you arguing with me for.
  3. Buerhle 12 straight years of 200 + innings JJ had a WAR of 3.4 Reyes 4.2 They traded Escobar for a 23 year old in A ball. The Marlins were just dumping salaries.
  4. Adeiny is a minus WAR, they could have done better had they sold them individually. Even Bud Selig thought the trade was ridiculous.
  5. You think the Marlins got good value for their players?
  6. If we do decide to sell at the deadline, I'd have every player on the block (except Lawrie) trying to create a bidding war. As long as we don't pull a Miami Marlins and trade guys away for nothing I'm fine. Would rather take my chances with this team next year than just see a salary dump.
  7. He certainly is, especially because we gave up D'Arnaud and Syndergaard for him.
  8. If the starting pitching ever gets it together, they'll make a good run at it - but it looks like a big "if"
  9. Depends what is offered, I hope we don't just sell to rid the team of salary if the players offered are mediocre and same thing applies to not selling - if the jays are out of it by the deadline, I hope AA doesn't turn down good prospects with hope of going for it next year.
  10. I tried to warn them about Thole, but they knew better
  11. You have to read the previous posts.
  12. And if J.P didn't work out they would still have Jimenez and Nessy.
  13. They traded them to get Dickey is the reason
  14. You could make the argument that we traded D'Arnaud because we also have Jimenez and Nessy in the system. The Jays haven't signed J.P to a long term deal and if something better comes along it's easy to part with him.
  15. We're only paying J.P half a million, we have'nt invested much other than playing time.
  16. I'm hoping Jimenez is ready next year, not a big fan of paying big money for McCann or Ruiz.
  17. I hope he keeps it up, I washappy to see his fastball touching 85mph. Hopefully he's getting over his back injury.
  18. Don't won't wet your diaper, it's just a baseball forum.
  19. Same link as before, when you can't talk baseball send a link.
  20. We tied a franchise record for consecutive wins with our field manager, how horrible can he be? Some Jays fans over exaggerate the incompetence of J.P that's it's just ridiculous. Martin's a good catcher, but $8.5 million for a 7-9 hitter? Way to much. They're good at building their own rotations, something the Jays started to do but didn't have the patience for. As far as JJ, Dickey and Buerhle go, I'll never hate on the Marlin trade. We gave up so little to acquire those guys. The Dickey trade was a joke. I hoping Jimenez is ready to go for next year, I think he's going to be good.
  21. They make some good points about Farrell and OBP, today we pinch hit Boni for Kawasaki against a lefty. Boni's BA avg against LHP .172 and OBP .213 Kawasaki BA avg against LHP .103 and OBP .278 Kawasaki had the better chance of reaching base.
  22. If we spend a ridiculous amount on a catcher, than that's money we can't spend on starting pitching. Catchers on the free market are usually overpriced a lot like starting pitching. I'll take a solid starter over a solid catcher any day.
