  1. We're tied for seventh in runs scored, the offence is fine - J.P is part of a top offence. You have no idea if J.P can call a game or not, Esmil Rogers is putting up solid numbers with J.P's game calling - yet our better pitchers can't? We could definitely improve at the catching position, J.P and Thole are mediocre, your going to have some mediocre starters on the team - every team does. But J.P takes the most blame and he's actually worth his price tag (half a million) when the problem is so clearly Buerhle, Dickey, Johnson, Morrow and Romero those guys are making the money
  2. I'm glad you brought up Borders - check out his WAR on fangraphs, it was pretty bad.
  3. He's 34. When will people realize the starting rotation is this teams problem, spending money on Ruiz is pointless.
  4. His 2011 WAR was .05 2012 1.1 so it's increased Season isn't over yet. Ruiz currently has a worse WAR than J.P, he'll likely be twice the price and is 34
  5. Such a ridiculous trade, why we needed Thole and Nickeas and Blanco is beyond me
  6. How do you think I knew he was no significant upgrade?
  7. Thole wOBA 2011 - .307 2012 - .257 2013 - .205 J.P wOBA 2011 - .311 2012 - .304 2013 - .295 Overall J.P has been the better hitter the last two and a half seasons.
  8. J.P's WAR has increased each year while Thole's has decreased J.P had the better CS% last year.
  9. I don't have to guess. Thole has a weaker arm, his defence is insignificantly better and doesn't hit for average or power. Thole has gotten worse each year while J.P has improved each year.
  10. He's not even the worst on the team, Thole is much worse.
  11. Right now he's a better defender at 3rd than 2nd, your right, but range/quickness and arm strength are far more valuable at 2nd than 3rd.
  12. Looks like it, what's your point? What abilities are being wasted at second base?
  13. He'd be more valuable at second, if he learns the position
  14. The guy hasn't played one big league game yet and he's already the starter. Come on now I believe he should get a shot in spring training to crack the team, especially since Davis is likely gone - but the starter already. Melky hasn't been great but he's still hitting around .280.
  15. The Jays finished ahead of Tampa the last two years in runs scored - we've had a consistently good offense over the years. We just can't pitch.
  16. Jays are tenth in league in walks, not that far behind Tampa
  17. I do remember just pulled up the old thread - pretty funny
  18. Easier to find a quality third basemen than a second basemen - it makes sense
