    Russell Martin cost $17 million for two years after hitting .211 the year before, major overpayment. I hope we spend on starting pitching - if our starters become consistent, coupled with our ridiculous bullpen then were one of the best pitching staffs in baseball

    I'd rather he focus on baseball, he'll be so jelly legged from the teenagers that you'll see more throws from the knee's on stolen base attempts

    Thole's defense is insignificantly better, considering how bad his bat looks. I think that was idea of bringing Thole up, Blanco at 42 can't physically play a ton of games. Benching Arencibia for his free swinging way's may not be a bad idea - but it hurts the team at this point if Thole's bat is in the line-up consistently.

    You play the best guy, sadly J.P is the best guy. In a month if Jimenez is still playing great in AA, bump him up to AAA. If he plays well there, give him a shot.

    There is probably guys very similar, but unless it's a significant improvement it won't matter much. Blanco plays great D and everybody hated him.

    He's getting a chance, just not performing. They started him at first today in favour of DeRosa, I can't understand you claiming he doesn't get a chance when we DFA'd Blanco to give him a chance. But you don't earn the starting catchers position by playing worse than the starting catcher.

    Boni is easily replaced with Kawasaki, when Lawrie comes back Izzy as well - but replacing J.P is a little more difficult.

    If Thole was hitting I'm sure they'd platoon the two.

    I can't tell whether he's a good manager or just the benefactor of a great bullpen. He lets Oliver pitch in to many important spots for me.

    He's not a good defensive catcher, Blanco was a good defensive catcher. Nickeas is better defensively than Thole and JP, but an absolute horrendous hitter.

    He get's his chance every 5 games, if he play's well start him next game. But why would any sane manager just bench his starting catcher for a guy playing worse and hasn't even caught any of the SP before (except Dickey)?

    I should be asking you the same question, go on the Mets forum board search Thole's name see how Mets fans felt about Thole. I know your desperate to rid the Jays of JP, but I can't see Thole being the answer.

    19 and 2 hits, I'm all for playing the best player - but make him prove himself first. From what I've seen so far he's JP minus the power.

    Are you guy's really serious about playing Thole more? He's even worse than JP, Thole needs to hit higher than .105 before he starts taking playing time away from JP.

    How does Melky not get DL'd? He'll be in a wheelchair by September.

    Yeah me to, DeRosa is the player who adds the least. Obviously none of us our in clubhouse to witness his veteran presence - but from a pure baseball standpoint DeRosa adds nothing. Was really hoping AA would DL Melky - can barely run at the moment and can't hit worth s***.
