  1. Wondering if papa also had a sitdown chat with him and showed him video clips of his playing career. When papa started out he was lean and could run like a gazzelle, through the yrs his body just started to breakdown with weight gain to the point where papa could hardly run. If family genetics comes into play, glad to see Jr trying to get his issues under control now.
  2. Now lets see if Vladdy can have a sit down chat with Kirk!
  3. The one aspect of playing safe and building a perennial winner is it makes it easier attracting medium to higher end free-agents on the short term or long term.
  4. Wonder if Ng bought Jeter a gift basket and patted him on his head and told him "now go away and let me do my job"?
  5. with no minor league season here's hoping we see a large uptick in baseball fundamentals from the younger Jays.
  6. Would you not say most of the high priced talent will all get offered the big dollars so it may just come down to what team can be a winner. Having a solid but not overwhelming team will help attract quality high end players and getting solid and ok players like Ray helps to do this.
  7. I believe Gene Mauch did that with the Expos back in the early 70s (could be proven wrong but he did all kinds of stuff like that back then)
  8. Don't blame Buck wanting stats tossed with his career .225 average and his .465 winning percentage as a manager!
  9. What other cities in Ontario?...I know St Kitts and London had MiLB teams in the past. But wouldn't any team in Ontario would need to play in an appropriote league and is there one close by? (I dont think so unless I had a brain cramp)
  10. Let them go until it appears to they're gassed out or getting into trouble. Why make assumptions and limit your options later.
  11. Welcome aboard....don't be shy in asking questions!
  12. My issue with the Rays "business model" is that its a "business model"...as a fan I like seeing players developed and star for years for the team. Call me old fashion but I absolute hate seeing players develop then traded away in their prime.
  13. My only concern for Vladdy is his fitness and health. His dad was very lean and fit and could run like a gazelle, then as he approached his 30's he could hardly run or throw due to his lack of fitness. If he takes after his dad for maintaining his health and fitness then ugh.....
  14. Not knowing on what the agreement is to allow AK to pitch in this league, one would hope the Jays has some say on his pitching schedule and pitch count and medical treatments. I guess I'm just use to hearing how some NCAA coaches have their pitchers throw 130+ pitches in a game. ** having said that, knowing this front office they have everything covered off. Just finding it odd allowing one of their top pitching prospects out from under their watch.
  15. Not sure what the expectation should be for Groshans be in a totally screwed up minor league season or whatever you want to call it. He missed most of last year now facing more seasoned pitchers.
  16. Roxham Rd is still wide open......maybe for ease the jays play in the Big Owe?
  17. I wouldnt trade him for Mantle also....he's been dead for numerous yrs!
  18. Give them McGuire along with a cpl solid prospects. Eventually it will come down to Jansen and McGuire in the next short while anyways.
  19. I fairness to the hockey players in the CHL...they do get an education scholarship from the team/league. For every yr they play they get a yr of education in university/college or trade school. Perhaps MLB should also consider similar??
  20. Holy f***...my wife looked a lot hotter in 1992!!!
  21. Panik IMHO isn't here to help the Jays win, with any sort of a decent season the jays probably could recoup some prospects (or "suspects") in mid-season (typical season...who knows with this one if we have one). I look at signing some low end vets for a rebuilding team as a cheap and easy way to collect assets....nothing more...nothing less.
  22. Back in the 70's, certain underage hockey players sued the pro leagues to allow being drafted earlier. The draft age at that time was 20 and the players sued to move up the age to 18, they claimed they were being prevented in making a living. Is that a stretch?...maybe...maybe not. But if MLB draft is cancelled I could see the case about how they are restricting these players from making a living. Edited to add.....some underage basketball players were about to do the same or just did it prior to the hockey players.
  23. wouldn't there be lawsuits by some of the amateur players restricting their rights to make a living?
  24. or play all the games in Tampa??
