  1. Is there any metrics that would show what the difference would be for the Jays with the improved defence with Semien and Springer? Also, would this improved defence help in attracting any FA SP who is sitting on the fence for which team to sign with the money being equal? Would there now be an enhanced possibility of a Biggio ++ trade to Chicago for Bryant and Hendricks since now we have replacement now for Biggio??
  2. I joked elsewhere (twitter?) that the reason for the Springers presser for tomorrow is to allow them to have Bauer there .....looks like my basis is there but got the player wrong!
  3. Considering most of those pitchers who had two TJS may be due to the fact they tend to be longer in the tooth than others who had just one. But yes, huge caution needs to be applied here as with any pitcher.
  4. I know you said "Rogers or Bell"..I heard a few yrs ago that its in the NFL constitution that a club owner needs to be an individual and not multiple. Not sure of corporation ownership but I can't think of one corporation owner in the NFL. Yes, the packers are community owned but they may have been grandfathered in. ^someone can correct me...going by memory
  5. His mom was but he was pissed at her due to all her trash talking about his season so she left!
  6. Especially if those one yr deals for SP could put 45,000 fans in the seats for a few yrs till our young stars start earning the big bucks. Rogers saw what having a contending does for butts in seats and viewership and these increased numbers goes a long way in paying these players when they are due! Otherwise the Jays will just become a farm team for the big boys like a cpl teams in Fla.
  7. Pete was on the radio this am talking various items but the one that jumped at me was the new facilities in Dunedin. He said it all leading edge, they have cameras that can zoom into the pitchers hand at the point of release to analyze the grips on the seams and other minut details to increase velocity or spin rate. He admitted that it may not increase greatly but maybe just enough to make a difference!
  8. Well Done!!!!....My son-inlaw also coaches that age group in Kitchener and it's the same for him working on skills and team building. It's not always baseball skills but people skills and building friendships.
  9. RG can play all 3 OF positions...not sure if that could be said of Teoscar while LGJ probably could play both corners. With Brantley probably DHing with limited playing in the field I suspect Teoscar may bring back the greatest returns in a trade. Maybe grab second baseman Wang to play second and shift Biggio to third. Biggio can supply OF depth as well.
  10. Would love his bat off the bench late in games but I think the roster spots will be given to a more versatile player that could play a cpl positions.
  11. Here's hoping in a cpl days we dont get bombarded with memes of Kawhi laughing due to all these rumours!
  12. With Springer being on a winner the last few years, with Yates signing it may help him sign here. So many players follow the money and regret it shortly after when the loses pile help. Build a winner and they will come as per early 90s.
  13. Went to school with a guy whos last name phonically sound like "squeeze" and his first name was Richard but naturally we all called him dick!
  14. Springer solves a lot of those issues and his offensive abilities may allow the Jays to play more of a defensive player but not all defence like Barney was at 3rd w/o losing much offense from last yr but better defence at two positions (CF and 3rd)
  15. Having a lot of good/cheap arms in the bullpen is one way to offset somewhat a less than stellar starting pitching (maybe thats their way of thinking)?
  16. Looks like the Jays has the wild card spot for FA signings! Sometimes the only thing worse is actually signing over inflated contracts. Outfield defence and pitching is their requirements and not sure moving Biggio to the OF would be a solution either.
  17. Let's hope we will soon see a "Kirk loses 30 lbs" post.
  18. Agreed....nothing like signing for 5 yrs when the young core should be blossoming! Plus he may now want to step out of his comfort zone and sign some FA's!
  19. I'm sure this isn't high on any FA lists of requirements for signing but knowing who's in charge for the next 5 yrs is worth knowing. Great to see MS here for the next 5 yrs....wasn't entirely sold on him or Atkins at the start but now very happy to have them here.
  20. Maybe the question should be "Why didn't this forum hold back jayscurveone in 2021" ?
  21. As Jays fans (or a vast majority) we think that Steib is deserving of full honours....just like Jack Morris, maybe even more so than Morris!
  22. Maybe the biggest one through the decades, it has waned the last little while but yeah, I place ND right there with Bama and a few others!
  23. Well, they could just want to drive up the prices of the FA's especially not knowing how the next cpl of yrs will be looking after Covid. We've seen some "big market teams" starting to have firesales on some of their players. Having said that NYC has been hard hit and Im sure some of the Yankee sponsors are hurting and some may have "opt-outs" in the contracts!
