  1. Maybe a lot more independent leagues will be popping up? Maybe even more teams for the unsigned players to play on and still get a pro contract??
  2. yeah he probably hit 98 one time then he got finger issues and shut it down!
  3. Shatkins even fleeced the Brewers further by getting a package of mayo on the side!!....WELL DONE!
  4. True...but when it comes to losing weight its always better to lose weight slowly. I doubt if he'll ever be slim, but carrying the correct weight for his body type is more important than being "slim"! Being with the big club will be a lot easier for him to maintain his regimen for losing weight than in the minors on the long bus trips. I wonder if he got heavy due to minor leagues diet of burgers and fries or was he always this way?
  5. Fisher absolutely has the physical tools but where he's lacking is "mental skills" to block out the pressures. The minors are probably littered with physically gifted players but they have mush for brains and Fisher is a prime example along with the other AAAA players.
  6. Happy for Wilner...truly is passionate about the Jays!
  7. Glad to see they touched upon the one thought I had about Groshans and that was the possibility of an outfield position for him.
  8. Glad to see they touched upon the one thought I had about Groshans and that was the possibility of an outfield position for him.
  9. Dunno if this was ever discussed re: pitcher injuries and due to advance in knowledge the answer may never be known. But back in 1968 MLB lowered the pitching mound, not sure on arm injuries prior but it seems like more arm injuries have happened since. Are pitchers nowadays "over throwing" to compensate for the lower mound since they no longer have a higher pitching plain (correct term?). With the bullpens now being asked to regularly pitch starting after one or 2 rotations through a lineup, they are being over used. Should the bullpen be expanded (like Boruki noted above but Ive been thinking about this for a while) and the mound raised back to the pre-1968 levels? Pitching is hardest commodity to get and even more difficult to maintain....are these worthwhile ideas to look into? I wish there was a way to get the rebroadcast of McCown interview with ex_Expo ace reliever and Cy Young winner Mike Marshall from about 25+ yrs ago who has a degree in kinesology and has some really "out there" ideas on how to maintain a pitchers arm.
  10. Plus he could have volunteered to take some "anti-domestic violence" course to show how enlightened and rehabilitated he is now to get a job!
  11. Must be the bad fermenting of the sour grapes that he's a bit drunk when he was writing the article!
  12. The other hosts insists on Harold Reynolds being a cohost since he makes them look smart is my guess why he's on there!
  13. It may just be that the Jays want him back also but told him to get offers and let them match it before accepting the other teams offer?
  14. Maybe the interest in relief pitchers is for when Pearson pitches they may have a limit of maybe 4 innings max for him and then 2 slated to go right behind him till the closer?? If I'm wrong....what's that saying?...you can never have too much pitching (except crappy pitching!)
  15. From my POV it seemed he struggled mentally.....seemed to cave-in when a bounce didnt go his way
  16. Agreed....I rather see small gains (errrrr loses) in his battle against weight all through good habits and not a gimmick or fad that lasts a short while.
  17. Wonder if this off-season if he's been under watch by the Jays in their Dunedin facility. For having the state of the art facilities now and with the "Shatkins show" that they may put in place some professional help for diet, nutrition and other healthy lifestyle choices?
  18. "S" words for me! Can never order coffee for my wife with her 3 sugars so she leans over and yells into the speaker/mic
  19. Lifetime stutterer here also for over 60 yrs. Yes, for a number of years I avoided public talking to avoid embarrassed and being laughed at. But I have learned to turn a negative into a positive in my late teens into my 20s when I was single. 3 of my friends and myself were out at a pickup bar and we noticed a gorgeous woman (think Linda Ronstadt or Marie Osmond) who was spurning all the advances from the guys. We placed bets which one of us could get her up for a dance. My buddies who were quite the ladies men also struck out. I bet them 20 dollars a piece that I could get a dance out of her. I went up to her and my stuttering was terrible but I did manage to eventually ask her to dance. She felt so bad for me she replied back "I would love to" !!!.....haha Now my stuttering only pops up when answering the phone or when ordering thru a speaker system at a drive thru. I also know what "key words" to avoid.
  20. Numerous ways this could go....ie: Trade Grichuk ++ for a SP, it may just add a cpl million to the payroll.
  21. He was also on cruise control the last number of years...he went from "BobCat" to "FatCat"
  22. Keep the prospects in the chamber to see how the season is shaking out and who may become available during the season. Also, with Covid still hanging over us all, maybe the season gets really whacky and gets cancelled. Dont give up any goldstar prospects until the season has been established and running smoothly.
  23. Any idea what the projections for Seiens power numbers moving from Oakland to the Rogers Centre and in the bandboxes in the Al East? Going from 33 Hr +/- in 2019 to 40++?
