  1. Your post makes no sense. My reply was that Martin called one of the highest number of fastballs of any catcher and you say it could just be because those pitchers have great fastballs. Isn't Sanchez known for his great, heavily sinking fastball? Wouldn't it follow then that Martin would also continue to call a high number of fastballs for Sanchez?
  2. Martin and Gomes. What did I just read? All these ideas.
  3. Oakland usually does seem to come out on top one way or another. Maybe not this year, but a year or two down the road. I guess we'll find out. Just wish we'd see some of the smaller moves the Jays need to do happen.
  4. What did I just read? 5 pitchers would pitch an easy 1000 innings? How often do the 5 starting pitchers on a team make it each to over 200 IP?
  5. Oh no! They did not go out to dinner every night as a group of 25 each time? Latin players actually preferred hanging out with other Latinos? This sounds like a huge problem. I know at my work if I go talk to one person I always make sure to go talk to EVERYONE else just so we are a tight knit group. Having friends and getting along with some people more than each other really sounds terrible. Fire the manager.
  6. This organisation (AA mostly) did a great job of getting Bautista and EE. 3rd time would be a charm though. If Smoak could take off it would really be huge. Here's hoping.
  7. Right now Roy Halladay is out in his shed after seeing all the recent Jays' moves. He is throwing some baseballs and noticing his velocity is back up into the low 90s. In a couple days he'll call AA and ask if he can come play for 2 mil to have the chance to do what he always wanted - win in Toronto. He'll come in and pitch to about 1.15 WHIP and help lead our staff. Meanwhile Rogers will sell a ton of tickets and the MLB will sell about 10000 Halladay jerseys.
  8. I think Martin called more fast balls than most catchers last year.
  9. I think most teams that need a catcher wouldn't really have a problem with his salary.
  10. Fair enough but you should still wait to make sure Izturis isn't going to make the team before cutting him. What if Goins gets injured in spring training? There is no benefit to dropping him for at least a couple months.
  11. There is a chance Izturis is better than Goins so I don't see why we would do this yet.
  12. I really think Happy is going to have a really good year and would have been a good starter for us this year. That being said, the trade saves us money and Saunders will be fun to watch. Needed someone over there who could play some defense. I think there will be a lot of casuals complaining by the end of the year though about Happy doing so well and that we traded him. Need to get some ST so we can put him out of mind.
  13. Screw missing Lawrie. It is so great we are getting rid of these guys. Arencibia last year, Gose and now Lawrie. Cocky, immature A-holes. That couples with getting rid of guys who strikeout a huge amount of times (Gose again, Rasmus, Francisco) is going to make this team a whole lot more fun and less frustrating to watch. Dickey is about the only guy on the team I really can't stand now, since Bautista did a lot better this past year of not arguing over every little detail.
  14. I don't get why we would do this. Rogers Center is more a major hitter's park because of how the ball carries / having a dome to hit in during bad weather etc... Not really because of the dimensions being tiny. The whole point is mostly that the ball would carry farther in the Roger's Center. You could look at how many Donaldson hit to the warning track and probably assume a lot of those would be homeruns. ** this in reply to Donaldson spray chart and translating it directly to Roger's Center
  15. Wow. I stuck for AA for years saying he was one of the best GMs, then JUST before all this stuff started happening this winter I finally bailed after him doing nothing decent for so long. As soon as I said it seems like his magic is gone he starts firing away like the GM I always believed he was. This is right up there with unloading Vernon Wells' contract, only this one makes the team better instead of just saving money. I didn't think there was any way I would be excited for next season, but I'm pumped again.
  16. any streams for tonight's game?
  17. AA talking a lot about how they are valuing contact skills more now. Bruce seems unlikely. I'd love him but we just got rid of Gose and Rasmus. Right now our lineup is going to be very good at making pitchers really work.
  18. Agreed. A guy like him might be good for a story, but not the time of guy that would fit into a clubhouse. These types of guys always seemed wormy to me, worried more about their own image than any of their teammates. Comparing Doc to Dickey seems ridiculous to me, their personalities seem completely different. Dickey would annoy guys in the same way I think that Hayhurst would. They just seem... I can't even explain.
  19. This team is fricken depressing. I still think it was fair to give AA some support for a while, with all the great things he did in his first year, but wtf happened to him and this team? He really did seem smart and like he knew what he was doing at first, then his whole philosophies seemed to change. Rude to say maybe but he seemed to have let himself go and lost a lot of his baseball IQ around the time he got his first kid. Either way even now after trying to stay positive with this team, it is just way too depressing. Get rid of these tired old players. Trade all the veterans. The only one I'm not really tired of is EE. People think guys like Reyes, MB etc... might fetch a decent player though, but they won't. Dickey won't either. We basically have to restock our team with the fruits of trading EE and JB.
  20. I'd keep Happ. He showed some nice signs. He seems like he could/should be durable enough and he has always been a player that AA saw something in. Since he has two reasonably priced years left, I would keep him. I think his value will go up. Buehrle would be nice to trade but then I'd need to people whine on here about what they got back, as if MB should actually command some sort of return. That would be annoying to watch so I won't be sad if we keep him.
  21. That and for a long time our organization just sucked with prospects. Like they will have a guy with a great slider or curveball and get him to stop throwing it and throw the opposite instead. I don't even comprehend a lot of the decisions that have bee made with some of our prospects over the years and Drabek is a prime example of that.
  22. There is a chance they wanted to get him 1 ab and then will play him in the second game. But that would be weird. Ugh dont be injured.
  23. Please someone tell me Edwin did not leave the game after 1 AB because he got injured....
