  1. Definitely did not have a Gomes boner but would have easily chosen him over Arencibia. Easily.
  2. I would really prefer just a day where all the backups got in and played that game, as opposed to this one at a time thing. Then just have the regular set lineup most nights.
  3. Agree with you on Travis. What effect it has on the team is near impossible to quantify, but it is a lot more fun to cheer for this team than the last few years with Arrencibia, Lawrence and Gump (never minded Lind). It's unfortunate that Pompey's attitude seems more like Gose's than Travis'.
  4. What a useful response.
  5. Dumb. Trading Navarro looks less important as our bullpen becomes more decent. We really don't need him at all. Probably better off with Thole up to catch Dickie
  6. AL East the strongest division in baseball yet again - ugh.
  7. Are we really blaming Pillar for that bounce?
  8. Love how 3-0 Buck says Young is a veteran enough hitter to make sure he swings at a good pitch, then 3-1 he swings at one that wasn't even close to close to the plate.
  9. Ummm did you see where they were playing him? Most likely scenario they'd get runner at third or turn a double play.
  10. All in all over his time in Toronto Gibbons has managed bullpen very well, but I have to agree with some that there are some odd choices lately. One run lead.
  11. Shultz really couldn't go one more after all that rest?
  12. I think Kawasaki's first call up is what sprang this team to life.
  13. Yeah I think he could be here to stay. Looks like he belongs. Nasty relievers around the majors pop up each year so hopefully he can be one for us. Him and Hendricks both have real nice stuff.
  14. Who knows if it will work but it is a smart move by Buck. Come on though JD.
  15. People whining about Shultz when he got bad defense and lost us a game. Don't care if he is new to us or not he has good stuff. Could end up being a helpful piece this year.
  16. Edwin really needs to get going. Good attempt though by the team. Made it interesting.
  17. Is Hendricks not available. Even though people seem to hate him from that one game, even Shultz looked good to me. Love Gibby but cant accept losing this way again. Is there really something to our team not winning close games besides just luck. Seems pretty reasonable to assume at this point.
  18. Usually pretty optimistic but you could really see Loup blowing this. He is a decent reliever but just seemed a bit silly to keep him in there.
  19. Ugh feels like Loup is hitting a lot of batters in important situations. Grrrr. Could be just imagining it though.
  20. Should have just pinch hit kawasaki for Navarro. He'd put the ball in play and probably not get doubled up. Navarro has no point to be on this team. Just taking abs from smoak who is CLEARLY a better hitter.
  21. Still don't get how it would be his property. Why would he ever actually own it just because it went into the stands. It is a ball being used for a sport used by a company. Same when a bat goes into the stands. I don't understand why people feel entitled to automatically be able to keep it. If I find a purse and pick it up it isn't mine. Is there so weird law I don't know? I mean I get why mlb let's ppl keep the balls or bats. But it seems to me in a situation like this the ball should 100% still belong to the people that bought it.
  22. I have a hard time really understanding the whole baseball thing. Shouldn't they just be able to take these balls from people like this? Just because something ends up in your vicinity doesn't mean it's yours. Doesn't the ball belong to the MLB? They bought it.
  23. It would be pretty frustrating to keep a run differential like this and not make the playoffs. Can't say AA didn't put together a good team. No team ever stays fully healthy but if we had Saunders in LF and Travis all year at 2b our offense would really be unstoppable. It already is actually.
  24. Will be pretty frustrating if we have one of the best run differentials in baseball and still miss the playoffs.
