  1. Umm people would still have the same discussions, only more people would participate. Like what used to happen on the old forum. Really by the end of my time there the MiLB threads were the only ones that were worthwhile. GDTs will disappear in a day and the generic prospects forum will stick around the top. It will of course be much better.
  2. Really don't understand some people's obsession with eliminating "clutter". There is such a low number of new threads on this site as it is. Do people feel like the GDT clutter the board? They disappear after a day. It really doesn't take long to sift through the titles and decide what posts you want to read. It certainly takes less time then to go to another subforum. The MiLB threads were always a big part of the board. Now most people don't even bother with them because it isn't convenient.
  3. Oh he is! I watched the guy foul off pitch after pitch in his 12 pitch at bat where he hit his first HR. Tons of power but also a smart hitter with decent contact ability.
  4. I used to love reading the milb daily posts, but now I can hardly be bothered to go click into the subforum. Already threads last on the first page of our main forum for a long time. It's really kind of dull. Getting some minor league posts would be interesting, not just for regulars but for any new fans checking out the site.
  5. Abreu hits another one. First homerun came on a 12 pitch at bat.
  6. Rasmus can't really hit a baseball very well. Anyone who expects him to hit over .250 should give their heads a shake. Guys like Arencibia swing at everything and can't take a walk, but Colby just plain misses the baseball all the time. Even if it is right down the middle of the plate. He's still a useful player, but last years average was a pretty big fluke. Plus the way he holds his arms out in his batting stance is ridiculous.
  7. R.I.P. Would like to echo the other sentiments in this thread. I definitely gave him a hard time for his love of certain AAA/AAAA players over the years and his obsession with some of the pitchers from Pittsburgh (way before they had any decent ones). He always took it with class and knew it wasn't personal if we thought some of his ideas were outlandish. Definitely a nicer guy than almost anyone else I've met here.
  8. Taking out Santos (the closer) to put in a lefty in this situation is something 80% of managers would not do. Gibbons is the man. Longoria has crushed M.B. in his career, there was nothing wrong with going with Santos. It's about winning and he put us in the best position to win.
  9. I brought this up during the spring. Of course not time to panic yet, but seeing EE strike out a bunch after last year is a bit worrisome if only for the reason he had off-season wrist surgery at the end of last year. Lots of people believe (probably rightly so) that EE's wrist injuries kept him from being a better hitter for many years. Just because the team didn't talk about it much doesn't mean off-season wrist surgery is a non-issue. Of course people will here will act like just musing about a possible issue means I am "hitting the panic button" or something.
  10. Yes it is. Hutchison would have a better chance at a better season throwing 93-96 with control than 90-92 with control. I won't say any more on the subject though, it's a happy day.
  11. First game? He's been pitching all spring and they pumped him up as throwing 95/96 all spring. Hutch should be fine this year, but we need him to be better than that. Obviously it is disappointing to see him throwing 90-92 instead of 93-96.
  12. We needed our players to stay incredibly healthy. We are really not okay without Reyes. Not even a little bit. We basically need to just pray on completely amazing, unrealistic seasons from Hutchison and McGowan at this point.
  13. YAY!!! Now please don't let him get injured in his next spring start
  14. You just said he is out of options in your own post. We going to put him in our bullpen in the MLB to start this year?
  15. If he gets to a point where Stroman is ready to come up then he did his job. Just let him loose. There was no point signing him if they weren't even going to give him a chance in a situation like this.
  16. Trust me, I'm excited. McGowan was one of my favourite Jays and I'd love to see him make the starting rotation. Just telling you what I've heard people saying in the past.
  17. I've never gotten on a coach or manager that much before, but #fireWalker
  18. McGowan's results never really matched his upside, but he's still a better option if healthy than the others. Plus he is just a way more fun option.
  19. Looking increasingly like it could be McGowan. Very, very exciting.
  20. Per Lott McGowan in 4th: Done after 62 pitches, 41strikes. 3H, 0R, 0BB, 4K. Sat 92-96 throughout.
  21. From this article http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-jose-reyes-feeling-better-after-mri-revealed-hamstring-strain/
  22. Yep and now our organization makes every pitcher develop a changeup instead because it is easier on their arms. Thank God, it has made a big difference in keeping our pitchers healthy. If a pitching coach can get results from guys like Towers and Chacin, then who really cares if pitchers are even getting hurt? Pitchers all over the league are getting hurt each day. All I know is when Arnsberg was here most of our pitchers continuously seemed to pitch better than I believed they should.
