  1. This organization... ugh. Can we get back Butterfield and Arnsberg and get Fasano up here please.
  2. Sometimes I wonder if you are Hill's agent.
  3. Drew is as injury prone as all the other guys on our roster. He does nothing special with the bat and I really don't think he's worth 14 million more than even Goins.
  4. Hand-eye coordination is a thing. So is pitch recognition. Not every skill in baseball relies on how strong you are or how fast you can run and swing a bat. Making contact with a baseball is a skill.
  5. Morrow looks like he's soft tossing out there. He going to be down to 90-92 this year now or something?
  6. Guess we were on the same page with our predictions.
  7. Dustin McGowan pitches over 150 innings.
  8. Edwin, Reyes and Kawasaki are our only likeable position players to me. MAYBE Lind just because of the way he seems pretty honest in interviews. Colby and Lawrie can be entertaining at times, but likeable... meh. Arencibia leaving will go a long way towards me enjoying watching games this year though.
  9. Yep. Definitely would be a better story if D Mac made it. However he also still has the biggest upside. Even though I wasn't a big fan of the delivery he was using in his last game.
  10. Oh great now I have a meeting at 4pm today. Game starts at.... 4pm my time. Ugh.
  11. This will be the one time living in Asia helps, baseball-wise.
  12. Umm yeah. They need to really just stop being sooo cautious. Players get hurt just as often that way. Chase Utley for instance finally was able to stay healthy because he changed his whole approach. Instead of trying to get more rest like he used to, he started working out EVERY day. Never takes a day off. Just let McGowan pitch. It's been years of babying him and he gets hurt each time. What do they have to lose?
  13. I know Ive been tough on Walker lately.. but doesnt McGowan's windup delivery look really odd? Why is he so far off to the side , then almost throwing across his body?
  14. Can we just put McGowan in the rotation please and hope Stroman is ready if his arm falls off. He's old enough now we might as well just throw him out there and stop babying him. Put him after MB and see how the teams deal with his stuff.
  15. SSS. Yes he has power, since as a pitcher he probably just swang for the fences since there were no expectations, but the guy isn't going to hi MLB pitching, which is evident by his K/BB #'s. He's a good hitter for a pitcher.
  16. Well it wouldn't have been fair to Sierra to sign a good bench player because then he wouldn't have a chance to make the team. We would possibly lose a fringe MLB asset for nothing.
  17. If Goins could even ever put up a major league season like his season in 2012 in AA then we wouldn't have a problem. The chances of that happening are slim though. Didn't someone show some research as if Seitzer was worth some wins. If he can get Goins to hit at all then it will be absolutely huge since Melky is actually looking decent and Navarro can actually make contact with a baseball unlike our last catcher.
  18. Disagree. I agree they haven't done a good job at developing talent. God knows even at the MLB level I've complained about Walker lots. But they have shown a good ability to identify it. They've traded away a lot of prospects and almost all those prospects go downhill after we trade them.
  19. Everyone should have had a good idea this was a strong possibility after they saw his k/bb start going downhill at the upper levels and watched him get injured year after year.
  20. He'd be right. There are so many pitching injuries and they are increasing if anything. You have the surgeries available so let the pitchers pitch. If they get hurt fine, but I'd be really surprised if even more players start getting hurt.
  21. I did not begin this to debate RR deserves a spot in the rotation. "What players on this team, in your opinion, should have their status dictated by how they look in spring? The only guy I can think of is Hutchison, who is coming off of surgery and has options. Every other roster position should be decided by past results and options." This is what I took issue with. The last two spots in our rotation should have been wide open between Rogers, Redmond, Hutch, Drabek, Romero, McGowan, Happ and to a lesser extent, Nolin. ST is a month and a half of coaches working with the players and watching them in games. Gifting spots to Remond or Rogers would be completely bonkers. **and Stroman ^^
  22. I will bow out of the ST is useful / useless in evaluating players for the upcoming season argument now. Don't think we'll get anywhere and I've said my bits and understand your points even if I disagree.
  23. This is really nonsense. If his stuff is back and his control is back then there would be no real reason to think he wouldn't be okay. AA said specifically that it seemed like something clicked and that he was interested to see his next start. You guys act like it is impossible to see any improvements in ST. You can tell when people's stuff (not results) looks better, just like you can tell when CC loses velocity off his fastball. Last year RR came to camp basically guaranteed a spot. They saw he looked terrible and made the smart decision based on what they saw that he shouldn't make the team. There is zero reason that the opposite couldn't happen. A healthy RR is not an ace, we all know that, but he's better than Redmond or Rogers. It is just a typical, Toronto fan negative attitude to assume that players can just "lose it" all of a sudden but could never be able to "find it" again. Just saying Rogers and Redmond are a better fit for the team and ignoring that the team has a ton of coaches and scouts watching these players for a MONTH and a HALF before the season starts is crazy.
