  1. That's an excuse for him having been bad not a reason why he might be good. He was already an unknown quantity before. He's at best an unknown quantity now. There's no rationale for that ranking. It's just a shot in the dark.
  2. She's already has a lot of board fans from being conventionally attractive. No one is going to have a problem with this.
  3. The order feels pretty arbitrary after the top 4. They give high grades to Borucki's tools and see him as contributing soon but they prefer to rank a bunch of players with longer odds ahead of him. I'd be shocked if Urena was more of a contributor than Borucki but they value certain tools a lot more than others and really like to wish cast on some unknown quantities.
  4. Well a third catcher who can cover a few other positions can be a nice edge of the roster asset but you're right that it's a largely theoretical appeal. In practical terms, his career development is completely stalled. He'll probably never stay on the field as a catcher and he'll probably never hit enough to be worth anything anywhere else.
  5. I look forward to the Red Sox spending more money on Hosmer than the Phillies did on Santana.
  6. Protecting Tellez over him worked out fine in the end. No one wanted Pentecost and we did see a 1B only player get selected though Mike Ford is probably a much, much better bet to produce than Tellez anyways so I doubt it would have made a difference.
  7. Aitn't no one signing C.C. to be a leader. His appeal is that he could be serviceable but doesn't require a long term contract. He's the kind of guy you sign when you're trying plan for the long term without entirely killing your wild card chances.
  8. That's a smart low key move. A healthy Upton is a rosterable asset.
  9. My completely unscientific and unresearched opinion on Bautista's swing is that he just doesn't have the bat speed to match his selective approach. To me "fixing his swing" means starting the swing earlier, chasing more pitches and striking out a lot while occasionally putting a charge in one.
  10. This might explain why Ohtani decided to leave Japan early.
  11. Since Ngoepe has options, there's still room for another infielder on the 25 and really there SHOULD be another infielder on the 25. I'm surprised when people talk like that need has been fully addressed.
  12. You could but they're not going to buy it so it really shouldn't factor in the decision. You just have to accept that you're going to take a huge p.r. hit no matter what you get back. This is where Rogers ownership can be frustrating. You have to convince them to take away from the quality of the television product and probably take a ratings hit to make the team better down the road.
  13. Oh he totally is doing that. It's just not that big of a deal from a Blue Jays perspective.
  14. He's a bit like Bautista that way. Negative feelings seem to motivate them. It might be annoying but it's hard to complain too much when it's working.
  15. Is that what they call The Veteran's Committee now?
  16. With his versatility, Harrison is an easy guy to fit into this lineup and he fits the m.o. of plugging holes without making long commitments. I wish he was lefthanded but few guys who play a decent third are so that's not surprising and hardly a deal breaker. The prospect capital required likely isn't too impactful so I'm surprised there are complaints about this.
  17. If Boras asks for too much in arb, the Jays will just win their case. There's only so much Boras can do to control the process here. The main thing the arbitraters look at is the numbers so inevitably Sanchez has a weaker case than he would if he hadn't been injured.
  18. Rush are a phenomenal band but it's o.k. to recognize 5hat their haters are not completely wrong. They can be pretty cheezy especially with the pretentious Ayn Rand inspired lyrics. Stroman doesn't know what he's talking about, he literally hates any music where you can recognize that instruments are being played by humans.
  19. Was it confirmed that Maitan was signed with 2018 money? I mean he must have right?
  20. I think only BTS is the only one hung up on the idea of Ohtani going to a good team. I think most of the people who would criticize the decision would still be happy that he made the decision to go to a lousy org.
  21. The Marlins are weird. They have this track record of doing the bait and switch on their fans. Is it any wonder they don't have very many?
  22. I get liking Goins for what's he done well but the wish-casting on his stroke is just like the old saw about expecting different results from doing the same thing over and over again. He's nearly 1500 PAs into his career and turning 30. If anything, he's going to get worse not better.
