  1. I supposed I could have opened with a lower pick and haggled a bit but I didn't really feel like it. I also could have traded for a more established pitcher with a higher market value but the guys that were offered didn't really move the needle for me. I also could have traded for a younger not established guys but that didn't really make sense since I'm already planning to drop guys like Nolin and Nicolino unless their job prospects suddenly improve.
  2. Maybe not but that's not the point. The point is that I'm probably not competing in the short term so Chatwood makes sense for me.
  3. There was no used car dealings going on. Jaysblue accepted my first offer and that was that. I don't think I'm competing until Beachy and Skaggs come back anyways so Chatwood made sense for me as an additional stashee. The fact that I nabbed him in the last round of the LOD suggests his market value value is pretty low but I don't care about that. I think he was a steal where I drafted him in the LOD anyways. I love his youth, his groundball tendencies and his overall potential. He's not a fit for everyone but he's a fit for my team. I'm sure another rebuilding owner like Boxy would have wanted him too.
  4. Seem to me that there are too many established prospects in the system to justify putting Pentecost top 5 based on his profile but maybe that's just me.
  5. Can't seem the harm in acquiring Arruebarrena. There's room for him on the 40.
  6. I think it's just a fluke due to attention shifting back to this league after the LOD draft-sanity. Roster cut off was much later last year and I think it's fair to give owners a chance to see what happens in the off season before making final decisions.
  7. I suppose that if someone has a fringy SP they are looking to cut, I'd probably bite.
  8. I don't understand the love for Pentecost. It was interesting pick but it's too early to tell if he's more than a backup.
  9. My team should be pretty weak again this year. Some o.k. young pieces but no real core and with 2/5 of my rotation on the DL, the starting pitching is pretty bleak. It would be in my interest to acquire some but I don't necessarily have the pieces: C Wilin Rosario 1B Logan Morrison 2B Jose Ramirez SS Chris Owings 3B Conor Gillaspie OF Kevin Keirmaer OF Austin Jackson OF Khris Davis OF Anthony Gose DH Kenny Vargas / Mookie Betts Bench Brock Holt N/A Rougned Odor SP Shane Greene SP Roenis Elias SP Jake Odorizzi RP Aroldis Chapman RP Joaquin Benoit RP Hector Rondon DL Brandon Beachy DL Tyler Skaggs Likely Cuts: Billy Burns Chris Young (pitcher) Justin Nicolino Sean Nolin Dylan Axelrod Manny Parra Daniel Hudson Jason Motte
  10. Apparently you knew what I meant because that's the answer.
  11. What's the definitive source for lineup information at this point? Is it in ProBoards or in a Google doc?
  12. As it stands, two out of 4 the teams outfielders are likely to be rookies and the second baseman will either be a rookie or a scrub. Having Zobrist makes the lineup deeper and more versatile and a lot less vulnerable at those positions. It's a really, really good fit and would greatly solidify the playoff chances. Given the Jays position on the win curve, it would be worth making sacrifices to get him. Norris would hurt a lot since he is likely to be needed in the rotation as soon as this year but a younger asset like Osuna or even Miguel Castro might well be worth sacrificing.
  13. A minimum body fat is necessary for a woman to even be able to menstruate. Maybe she has just enough. Doesn't look particularly healthy to me but feel free to continue to define that as "fit".
  14. She looks like she has an inverted tummy.
  15. Maybe I'd agree with you if she ate a sandwich or something.
  16. So maybe the forum should be re-designed a bit? The off topic forum could be renamed the fantasy forum since that's all that's really active and off-topic threads could be here with OT headings. The only difference is that you can't embed videos in the main forum but you can still link to them so it would be no big loss.
  17. Donaldson for me. I think it will be easier to appreciate his contribution. I expect a big offensive season. Martin might have more of an overall impact but his contribution will be subtle and he will probably regress offensively.
  18. I think the frustrating thing with Sanchez is that what you describe above was basically his scouting report from day one. So even though he's still certainly young, the lack of progress is concerning. That being said pitcher are a peculiar breed. Cliff Lee was nearly 30 when he finally put it together. Nothing is set in stone with Sanchez but short term his biggest value to the Jays seems to be as a trade chip (with the caveat that we don't actually know what anyone would actually pay for Sanchez at this point.) Furthermore, I think overall skepticism is warranted.
  19. Since most of them were HS picks, most of them didn't even have the possibility of acheiving that so I don't really see the relevance. I just said that it's possible IF you made a college pick and you drafted well that you COULD have a similar prospect and not really lose any development time. Obviously if they go the HS route or draft poorly it won't happen but when you consider that there's a chance (not an overwhelming chance or anything but a chance) that you could get all the value you gave up for Zobrist + comp pick out of just the comp pick by draftin a player similar to Sanchez and when you consider that the that if the player was a college player, you wouldn't even lose development time, it gives you an idea of how reasonable a price that would be. You don't need to argue with me as if I'm speaking in absolutes. I'm not.
  20. I think that the point he's trying to make is that because most of the comp picks the Jays made were HS picks that haven't made the majors yet it means that comp picks are worth much less than Sanchez because at least Sanchez has made the majors. He seems to ignore the fact that a. a comp pick doesn't always have to be a HS guy, a future comp pick could be a college guy in which case they could potentially be very close to the majors right off the bat. b. Sanchez making the majors doesn't make him superior to someone like Syndergaard who hasn't. Nearly any GM would value Syndergaard more because of the type of starting pitcher he projects to be. Making the majors as a reliever doesn't make Sanchez superior to a really good starting pitching prospect.
  21. Actually he made a damn relevant statement. You said: "Good or bad is irrelevant. What is relevant is that none of them made it to the majors in less than 4 years." Not making the majors in four years isn't nearly as relevant for a HS draftee as it would be for a College draftee. He added some nuance to your completely un-nuanced point and then you have the nerve to call HIM a troll.
  22. You can draft a Sanchez with a comp pick and I don't just mean that figuratively. He was literally a comp pick. Heck you could draft a college pitcher with that comp pick and barely lose any development time. It's indeed a pretty light price. Pick well enough and you practically get a year of Zobrist for just the salary cost.
  23. Since you seem to have a rapport with those guys, would you mind bringing it to their attention?
  24. It's funny about Hendriks because I'm pretty sure everyobody was puzzled by his re-acquisition because we thought he was out of options but if RosterResource is right and he does have options, it sheds a whole new light on the trade.
  25. They also re-acquired Hendriks which makes a lot more sense now than it did at the time. RosterResource says he still has options: http://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-toronto-blue-jays/
