  1. So basically, they balked at the price.
  2. I said they were childish in their reactions which I don't think is unfair nor the same as flat out labelling them childish but I suppose it's still kind of a pompous thing to say regardless. I guess my point was more that the kind of fan you are and the kind of fan you identify with, has a lot of bearing on the kind of announcer you like and from my observation, the typical sports fan seems to be a lot like Hawk. As for why Hawk, and to some extent typical fandom puts me off, I think that's something I'd like to go into more detail about at some point but I'm still fleshing it out in my mind. I'd like to get into that in a more lucid, less negative way.
  3. Do you mean that the way I'm calling out reactionaries is in itself reactionary? We all have different things that set us off. In my case it's "stupid stuff".
  4. I wonder if AA is trying to wait out the market on a guy like K-Rod much like he did with Ervin Santana last year.
  5. Most fans are very biased, emotional and frankly childish in the way they react to in game events They like an announcer that legitimizes that. Personally, I much prefer a measured response from my announcers. Hawk was right to question the umpire's call in the clip above but all that "he should go back to school", "he doesn't understand how baseball works" stuff was just over the top, pompous, jack-assery. That kind of stuff gets under my skin a lot more than an umpire making a mistake.
  6. Letting Chris Carpenter walk may have been a mistake. Seems to me that an extra Cy Young pitcher in the rotation might have helped some.
  7. I guess seeing how LOD goes this year is wise.
  8. No interest in switching to Fantrax?
  9. I think it depends on whether AA is willing to settle for a lesser return. It really seems like he'd rather keep him than just dump the salary and spend it elsewhere (which most of us would be fine with).
  10. Yeah I wondered about that too. Hell of a thing to just drop into his article without further explanation.
  11. Pretty sure he isn't but it's not like I'm in all of them.
  12. I don't have a horse in this but I don't think you can have the same thresholds for a keeper league that you would in a re-draft league.
  13. Good one! I don't really think of him that way but it's true that a good season from him could constitue a breakout. He's as much a breakout candidate as anyone else on the list.
  14. And now that we've gotten that out of the way, feel free to delete the account.
  15. Top 5 potential Blue Jays breakout players for 2015 1. Dalton Pompey 2. Devon Travis 3. Daniel Norris 4. Aaron Sanchez 5. Kevin Pillar (I guess)
  16. Anyone know where Shi is getting this? This is the first I've heard of thess "plans".
  17. There's also Pompey. You would think that the fact that the Jays traded #3 on their list to clear room for Dalton would signify something about his potential impact.
  18. Norris is really underrated. He should be on this list.

  20. I like that they are getting out from the Escobar contract. They shouldn't have extended him in the first place but that was Friedman's mistake.
  21. I understand that it's annoying (probably very much so) but I really think I have a point. What good can possibly come out of throwing around insults? Are you trying to intimidate people? In all honesty, I really don't get it.
  22. That wasn't even that bad of a post. It's pretty obvious Gruber is trying to bring more nuance to his posts and you still feel the need to insult him and that sort of thing is just as painful to read, as much or more so than the ramblings of an idiot. I'm sure you're not a bad buy and you obviously can argue your position quite well when you're inclined to do so instead of just pouring gasoline on the fire. Do you think maybe you could cut it out with the abusive posts? I know you think I'm a nag but I just don't think it's fair for the other posters or good for the board not to call you out on this.
