Football is so dumn, Brady's legacy gets completely re-written because of Pete Caroll's derp.

Yeah I thought that was pretty silly call. Maybe he said something that added to the foul.
  3. It's kind of a mixed blessing. It forces you to do all your adds in the morning or the player gets locked. At least the other way, you can make your moves whenever you want which is better for people's schedules. It the system allowed you to make next day adds once the player was locked, it would be the best of both worlds.
  4. Dan Duquette at Orioles fan fest. The Baltimore crowd seemed very supportive. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/schmuck-blog/bal-duquette-explains-his-strange-offseason-during-fanfest-qa-session-20150131-story.html

It's not possible (at least I don't think it's possible) for a defensive player to generate the kind of value an elite quaterback does so nominating them for MVP probably doesn't make sense no matter how good they are but if we're talking about the player who had the best performance relative to the expectation for his position, that's a different story.
  6. Alderson intuited that the Earl Weaver school of thought was the right formula for winning baseball and he found the statistical proof to back it up. He was the architect of the great A's teams of the late 1980s who emphasized power and OBP and he basically paved the way for the modern baseball era. Of course, in hindsight we now know that a lot of that power was fueled by steroids but I doubt the front office played any kind of direct role in that beyond valuing power. When Billy Beane joined the A's front office he didn't start a revolution as the common narrative goes. He merely continued down a path that had already been set by Alderson.
  7. Is it possible to activate trades so that we deal with roster players who were moved in the off-season?

    Three And1 for Derozan tonight.
  9. Purcey, Cooper... A lot of guys didn't amount to much.
  10. I would think plan B would be a different pitcher with MLB experience. I figure this was probably already in the cards. Interesting signing despite my sarcastic post earlier.
  11. Tenth best pitcher in the Italian league? Me want. That's gotta be at least a top 1000 player in MLB.
  12. Yeah and I just wanted to post that clip.
  13. I think I died in the semis. Success was bad for me thought because I took it for granted. I should have tried for at least one more run before blowing it up. You can blow it up whenever you want but you can't just decide to have a playoff team.
  14. I made the playoffs in my first year before my over-aggressive, premature tear down. I must have known who was in the race at that time but yeah now it's pretty irrelevant.
  15. It's easy enough to find out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlRc_plUUBk
  16. He's with Weber Naturals. TOTALLY different.
  17. Because their new GM is one of the worst in baseball?
  18. I honestly could not name a single team in my division without checking.
  19. VGO is better than V8 or Mott's.
  20. O.K. Whatever, I almost took the MiLB portion of that out and probably should of because it's basically irrelevant. A lot of the MiLB deals come with the caveat that the player will be given his release if he doesn't make the team. The rest of my point still stands though. You can't get a good look at a million guys during spring training. You have to make some choices.
  21. I don't know about that. MiLB contracts still involve an investment in money and time. If the physical is such that you have no faith the player can contribute, you move on. There's only so much money to go around and more critically there are only so many spring training innings and MiLB innings to go around. There are still a lot of relievers out there that could be auditioning for a spot besides Belisario.
  22. Also I have to admit that I didn't understand the experession "fell through" until now. I thought that meant the deal was good. Apparently it means the opposite.
  23. I suppose but there are still penty of other guys out there and similar guys already on the roster. Even though he generated far less discussion, Santiago was probably the more important signing and his deal worked out.
