  1. I pretty much expected you'd be the only one who would support me on this. I was strongly advised against this trade but I went with what my gut tells me about the two pitchers. I had buyer's remorse on Odorizzi pretty much as soon as I acquired him and have shopped him in pretty much every trade scenario that came up but nothing ever really lined up. Cashing him in for two waiver claims looks really bad on paper and no doubt makes Jaysblue very happy but sometimes you lose a little face to (hopefully) win the war.

Is it just me or are Senators fans dumb to not appreciate Jason Spezza?
  3. Lots of pitching depth traded (justifiably) in the Donaldson trade. Oramas could actually turn out to be a big pickup for this team because like you said there's not much behind the 5th starter. If Estrada and Sanchez start the season in the bullpen, he's practically next in line behind Norris.
  4. From what I understand (and I'm hardly an expert), it's a pretty standard business practice. They shouldn't feel the impact for a little while just like when the dollar goes up, they don't benefit right away either.
  5. Yes IIRC that was even stated at the time or at least widely speculated.
  6. I hope they take a nice long look at Infante. Guy can throw gas and he made big improvements limiting walks last year.
  7. With so little data, it's pretty hard to argue for or against any ranking for Pentecost.
  8. He's pretty bad. Can't blame the CWS for the DFA. I wouldn't want to give him a spot on the 25 man roster.
  9. We don't know that the Jays ever put an offer on the table for him (or for any reliever for that matter).
  10. As of March 2013, Baseball Reference has replacement level value win percentage at .294 which would correspong to a 48-114 record. So yeah they did alright for a below replacement level team. http://www.baseball-reference.com/about/war_explained.shtml
  11. IIRC, their win total is pretty close to the estimated win total of an entirely replacement level team.
  12. In 1992, I wanted him to come in and get the final save instead of Timlin. Both were warming up.
  13. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/54488/the-best-middle-relievers-of-all-time Eichorn and Quantrill top his list (players with at least 80 percent of career games in relief, fewer than 50 saves and the highest career WAR).
  14. O's fans must be happy to see the focus return to on field stuff. Snider is a pretty cheap way for them to address a need and options are pretty limited at this point anyways. Solid trade but in tersm of salvaging this off season, it might be too little, too late.
  15. It would be dumber than dumb to have him close in that case. Just sign f***in' K-Rod already.
  16. If Papelbon's going to come out wearing his face, they'd better have some serious metal blaring when he does and I don't mean Shippin' out to Boston.
  17. Everything I've heard so far about Pompey said that his makeup was off the charts.
  18. I think a lot people think Law is a douche independently of what happened 9 year ago. I know I do.
  19. Common Spence would make a pretty good board name.
  20. Acquiring Bonifacio and then running with him for so long.

  22. He hasn't been with the Jays 5 years.
  23. You mean like 5/10?
  24. What gives him the ability to refuse it?
