Yeah I mean the whole track suit in the shower thing seem really over the top but I guess it's just a case of a tipping point being reached. As often happens, the last straw isn't necessarily the biggest one. In any case, it didn't occur to me that he was sitting on a surgery possibility for some time. If that's the case then it's actually well played on his part. Might as well give himself a self imposed time out. I guess it was naive of me to think the injury was new and this was just some sort of weird coincidence. I'm totally talking through my ass when it comes to hockey.

He's still young. Might as well live the baseball life while he still can. It's not glamourous but if he gets along with his teammates then it's probably worth it for the memories and the friendships. I'm assuming he's not married and doesn't have any kids. He'll have to start thinking more long term when that happens but in the interim might as well do something cool. You only get to be young once.

Well If he shows up well before the game in his track suit just to brazenly break the rule that's one thing but from what Kipryos was saying it sounds like he was running late and was rushing to the game and just didn't have time or the foresight to get his suit on. He might be a douche in general and it's still his fault either way but from what I understand, he just plain screwed up in this case. Kipper was saying that this kind of thing happens from time to time and usually the guy just strips to his underwear ASAP and no one is the wiser.

He's have to be pretty desperate but then again maybe he is desperate. Maybe the market just wasn't friendly to free agents this year with not enough teams alloting enough space in the budgets. Scherzer going to the Nats on a weirdly structured deal kind of suggests that Boras had to a) call in a favor and get creative to land Scherzer what he should be worth.

That doesn't really work for the Jays though. All indications are that the Jays can only offer something heavily backloaded with possibly as little a 5M in the first year. If he's willing to take a one year deal, he can surely get a better deal then that playing in a more pitching friendly environment to boot.

Working on a possible deal involving Rodon. I know I told some people who inquired that he would be available past the cutoff but it now looks probable that I'll move him before that. I just thought it would be only fair to be open about that. I'm also interested in entertaining offers on Shane Greene and Roenis Elias.

What a weird note to go out on... I feel bad for the guy. From what I've come to understand the whole track suit thing was more of an innocent derp than a deliberate slight against the team.

Just to be clear. I don't think this is likely to happen. I just don't understand being philosophically opposed to it. I know that some people want to set money aside for Bautista and Encarnacion and I get that but who knows that they won't walk anyways? I'd rather they walk after having at least made the playoffs while they were here than have them play out their careers in a prolonged playoff drought which seems likely if the team keeps hedging and not putting the finishing touches on what are supposed to be win-now teams.

Yeah I don't get the opposition. Shields might not have been the best investment to start the off-season but he most certainly is now. If there's money available to improve the team, where else could you even put it at this point? Yeah it blocks Norris and others but it also more than answers any concerns about pitching depth and prepares the team for the post Buehrle/Dickey world. Those two can't keep it up forever. The drop off could happen any time. Shields is another guy who can more or less do the same thing and having all three plus Stroman and Hutch with Norris as the first call-up is a damn fine setup for a win now campaign.

What team is going to want to take on Buehrle's salary rather than offer Shields Buehrle money? The only reason to do this would be if you prefer a shorter commitments to a lesser player over a longer commitments to a better player for roughly the same AAV. The team that seems most likely to have this mindset is the Jays themselves.

It wouldn't surprise me if the team made it Stroman. They love what he did last year and I think they would like the optics. It sends the message that times are changing and things are looking up.
