  1. I've thrown Reed Johnson comps at Pillar a few times before. Pretty similar skill set and background. I think a lot of people if not nearly everyone preferred him over Moises Sierra last year.
  2. Not sure how serious you are about this but one thing to consider is that you eliminate the possibility of making the turn to 2nd on an errant throw if you slide to 1st.
  3. I love this quote from when Dave Stewart was arrrested with a tranny hooker.
  4. Except that we haven't really seen anything other than a few stints here and there.
  5. Valid point. There's still a big gap between his offensive projection and his results so far though and that's the part that creates a disconnect. His defense may not be fully appreciated but I don't think anyone flat out dismisses it either.
  6. Just because Stewart interprets it that way doesn't mean you have to do the same. More likely they picked J.P. Ricciardi over Stewart because of the former's association with Billy Beane and the later's association with the GM they were replacing (Gord Ash).
  7. I don't think it's personal. He's been bad up to this point which makes it hard to wrap one's head over the seemingly optimistic projections.
  8. No he'll be a solid 4th OF at best. He doesn't have much upside beyond that. He could be a lot worse and he has been so far in his short career but I wouldn't expect that to continue. He SHOULD be fine but he MIGHT not.
  9. I like Urena but I might still do that if it's A LOT of cash. Papelbon could be an elite setup guy (don't want to trigger his clause so Cecil would still have to close).
  10. I like that role for Navarro but the Jays don't really need another part time DH. They have Valencia, they likely will have one of Smoak or Barton and even Pillar should be a decent part time bat whenever Saunders is healthy.
  11. Is Hendriks even going to get any starts? Even with Stroman out, we haven't heard much about him as a starting option. Seems like the Jays only want to use him as a bullpen option which is a little weird for a career starting pitcher who is out of options and for whom you just traded. I guess the Jays just like him as a bullpen option.
  12. Navarro for Lobstein, make it happen AA!
  13. John Madden doing the whole ill tempered uptight old man thing and standing up for the sanctity of meaningless spring training games: http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2015/03/12/john-madden-will-ferrell-lacks-respect-by-playing-in-spring-training-games/
  14. Tolleson's in the mix depending on how they want to handle the fact that he's out of options.
  15. Jeff Francis in to face his country mates. Strikes out Tristan Pompey in a three up, three down inning.
  16. Colby Hyland, shortstop for Canada, makes his third error of the day. Nay gets on and another run scores.
  17. D. Pompey with a hit. Beaureagard getting battered after 2 1/3 of scoreless pitching. Nay in to pinch hit for Kawasaki.
  18. Ramon Fields with a 3 run homerun scoring Travis and Alford (walk).
  19. Some interesting chatter on the Jays broadcast about Gillick's athlete's first drafting philosophy (Ainge, Shroeder, some other QB).
  20. Travis with a rbi double, 8-2 Jays.
  21. There was a legit reason, Ian Kinsler.
  22. Vincent Beauregard with two scoreless innings against the big boys.
