  1. AA has a reputation for being a bit of a sponge when it comes to gleaning knowledge for other people. Spending more time with Shapiro and less time with the likes of Beeston and Chuck Lamar can only be a good thing.
  2. No. Read the rule more carefully. (A) have been on a Major League Active, Disabled (subject to theexception in Rule 2(g)(2) (Major League Disabled List; Transfers)),Bereavement, Suspended or Military List of such Major League Club as MAJOR LEAGUE RULESMLR 40(a) 118 3/08of Midnight Eastern Time on August 31, or on such date be under control, but not yet reported, on assignment from another Major Leagueorganization; and You must HAVE BEEN on the roster by midnight.
  3. It's 40 man roster and it's called the DL.
  4. http://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3549 Post-Season Roster Eligibility A club's Active List (25-man roster) must be submitted to the MLB Commissioner prior to the start of each post-season series (LDS, LCS, and World Series). 1. A player who received a Prohibited Substance Suspension prior to the start of Spring Training, during Spring Training, during the regular season, or during a post-season series (Wild Card, LDS, LCS, or World Series), is ineligible to play in any MLB or minor league post-season game(s) or series in that season, even if the player has completed serving the suspension. 2. All other players on a club's MLB Reserve List (40-man roster), MLB 60-day DL, and Restricted List (extended Bereavement, Medical Emergency, or Paternity Leave ONLY) prior to midnight (Eastern) on August 31st are eligible to be included on a post-season Active List (25-man roster), but a player on an MLB club's Disabled List (7-day, 15-day, or 60-day), Bereavement List, Medical Emergency List, or Paternity List is eligible to be included on a post-season Active List only after spending the minimum number of days required to be served by a player on that list. 3. Any player on the Disqualified List, Ineligible List, or Restricted List (for any reason other than extended Bereavement, Medical Emergency, or Paternity Leave) as of midnight August 31st is ineligible to be included on his club's post-season Active List. 4. A post-season eligible player who is placed on an MLB Disabled List, Bereavement List, Medical Emergency List, Paternity List, or Restricted List (extended Bereavement, Medical Emergency, or Paternity Leave ONLY) prior to the start of a post-season series can (with the approval of the MLB Commissioner) be replaced on his club's LDS, LCS, or World Series Active List by a player who was on a Reserve List or Disabled List, Bereavement List, Medical Emergency List, Paternity List, or Temporarily Inactive List of a minor league affiliate from that organization prior to midnight August 31st. However, the minor league player must be added to his club's MLB Reserve List (40-man roster) before he can be added to the club's post-season Active Roster. 5. A player on a post-season Active List (25-man roster) who is injured or leaves his club on Bereavement, Medical Emergency, or Paternity Leave during a post-season series can (with the approval of the MLB Commissioner) be replaced on his club's Active List prior to the conclusion of that series by another eligible player, or by a player who was on a Reserve List or Disabled List, Bereavement List, Medical Emergency List, Paternity List, or Temporarily Inactive List of a minor league affiliate from that organization prior to midnight August 31st. A minor league player must be added to his club's MLB Reserve List (40-man roster) before he can be added to the club's post-season Active Roster. 6. If a player is replaced during a post-season series, a pitcher must replace a pitcher and a position player must replace a position player. 7. If a pitcher or position player is replaced during a post-season series, the pitcher or position player is ineligible to be reinstated to his club's Active List (25-man roster) for the balance of that series and the next series (LCS or World Series).
  5. Well the closer part is straight forward enough. You can usually nab one for a pick in the off-season.
  6. IIRC, Halladay was pressing for a trade before AA was even hired.
  7. I've seen worse. Heck, I've done worse.
  8. Well never mind then, lol.
  9. If Thole were demoted tomorrow, could he still come back when rosters expand on September 1 and thus be around for the next Dickety start? Would that be a way to work around the usual restrictions? I would totally do that if it were permitted.
  10. Dude, you can't pick your opponent based on who you'd rather lose to? That's what's called loser talk. Pick who you'd want to beat.
  11. Avenging 1985, thirty years after the fact would be awesome. Bean balls not so much though I think even the Royals would prefer not to start a bean ball war in the post-season.
  12. McGriff was awesome. Better player than Joe Carter but the Jays won and it's all moot now.
  13. He's done it before.
  14. Timing the homeruns to the beats of that song was pretty inspired.
  15. Such a weird signing. It's not like Swisher and Bourn where guys just suddenly go in the tank. Everyone could see this coming.
  16. Seems like instead of coaching him up, the team is getting Goins to play within his limitations.
  17. Started watching baseball for the first time with the 1985 LCS although by then I had already been to a stadium. Saw the Gary Carter era Expos lose to the Giants in the nose bleeds of the Big O. All I remember is really bad hecklers where we were sitting and really bad vertigo. I still can't stand to sit in the nosebleeds to this day.
  18. You can't return a suit that's been tailored.
  19. None of the parties involved, Bautista, Travis, Sportsnet, the suit people, were interested in a big stink. I'm sure some kind of agreement was reached to kill this before it gets any biggers. It was picked up by a whole bunch of outlets today.
  20. I don't know in what context it was used but context aside, it's a pretty awesome gif.
  21. Very few players, in the history of baseball, not just Jays history did as little with as much playing time as JPA got in 2013. Usually players that produce so poorly get weeded out. By all rights, Yan Gomes should have stolen his job but he was no longer around to do that.
  22. Poor Rogers, can't pay for a half-price suit... we should sent them some welfare checks in the mail.
  23. I'm assuming the suit was tailored.
