  1. And poor Deadpool is besides himself.
  2. I knew someone had brought up a similar question but I didn't remember who.
  3. It might be. Not all GIFs move.
  4. Did you read the article? He shoved his sister and security went after him and he fought them. Sucker-punched the manager too apparently.
  5. Anybody have any numbers on the benefit of lefty-righty balance in the rotation? I suspect that it's probably not something truly important but it might make Happ (or any decent lefty) slightly more valuable to a team without any other lefty starting pitchers.
  6. To say that Cola and Edwin are the same is to put extraordinary faith in Cola's career year.
  7. You don't know that. You don't know that they would sign in Toronto at all much less for how much.
  8. He's not getting paid what a true talent Pittsburgh level J.A. Happ would command. That's merely the upside of the deal. The salary is actually closer to his floor which it what makes it a very safe, conservative move.
  9. Well if that's the case then isn't a good thing that they spent the money they had then? What exactly would you have had them do with it?
  10. There's plenty of offseason left. You don't know any more than anyone else what other signings or trades might occur. I think the only conclusion you can reach from this is that the Jays won't be going with "all eggs in one basket" approach. I you wanted the Jays to sign Price and no one else than yeah that isn't going to happen because they have already signed someone else.
  11. Fine but that has nothing to do with the J.A. Happ signing. The Happ signing doesn't meant they can't still add to the team. The Happ signing made the team stronger but people are acting like the Jays are subtracting with this move.
  12. And they don't have the hitters the Jays have. The point isn't that the Jays are like KC. The point is that there's no definite template to building a winning teams. You can be average in some areas and make up for that by being elite in others. This team has a bunch of elite hitters and no more than one (depending on how you view Stroman) elite pitcher. I feel like a lot of people would think the team is better if the talent were more equally distributed between the rotation and the lineup but that wouldn't actually be the case.
  13. Yes. That is usually what's implied by the term "rotation".
  14. I'm just talking in hypotheticals. I doubt that there's a deal out there that makes it worthwhile. If there was a way to flip Dickey without making the overall roster weaker I'd be all over that but I don't think a deal like that is out there. I just wish it wat. You're arguing with me for nothing because I agree that the kind of deal that's likely out there probably complicates the offseason more than it simplifies it.
  15. A lot of names I like on that list. I'd love Taylor Davis, Tyler Goeddel or Luis Lugo.
  16. Dealing Dickey would really simplify the roster construction. Not having to decide between potentially hurting Russel's production by having him catch Dickey or finding a new caddy would be really nice. I'd love this if the right deal is out there but the teams that need a guy like Dickey are teams just like the Jays.
  17. Based on what?
  18. There's a lot to be said for having a full rotation in place when it's still November. Doesn't mean that you can't pursue other opportunities but at least it means that you don't get caught with your pants down at the end of the off-season (which has happened to the Jays more than once). The fact that Happ has pitched here before probably made him more willing to sign early with the Jays and there's probably some wisdom in capitalizing on that. His floor is J.A. Happ, his ceiling is J.A. Happ Pittsburgh version. That's not a bad guy to sign especially with no compensation involved. Not sexy but not unsound. Will be interesting to see what the rest of the off-season brings. I expect we'll see better depth 1 through 25 and 26 through 40 than we saw under AA.
  19. And still had a hell of a season. Absolute beast in the 2nd half.
  20. I'm sure Lacava and Shapiro have talked things through. My sense is that long term, Lacava prefers a more low profile role.
  21. http://www.thescore.com/news/894357
  22. Interesting... I kind of figure this off-season would be Lacava and a new person would only be brought in down the line. This is the first I've heard of interviews.
  23. The arm injury hurt because it took away the one way in which Bautista provides defensive value but that only highlights how terrible the rest of his defensive game is. The bad routes, the poor fielding... that's will be somewhat offset by a healthy throwing arm but it won't go away and I think it's perfectly legit to wonder if we're at the point where the bad will outweigh the good going forward. If you don't extend Bautista then maybe you just ride it out for one more year but if you plan to extend him you have to do that with the idea getting him off the field sooner rather than later.
  24. Interesting post. You oftent hear about how EE should play DH but maybe he doesn't. Maybe Bautista straight to DH and EE to 1B is the best configuration and then you don't have to waste playing time on the Justin Smoak's of the world.
  25. They both have excellent plate discipline. The biggest difference I see is that EE seems to have more extreme runs of being hot or cold. At the end of the day, they come out pretty even as offensive players. Beyond that, Bautista is the more vocal, visible leader while EE is more in the shadows. The fan base always seems likes in on the cusp of turning on Bautista and I expect he would get a lot of hate if and when he signs somewhere else.
