  1. Yeah I would have much preffered that the other way. The drop is really sharp in the waiver draft though TBH I have no idea if there's even a single good IFA this year.
  2. Orlando Arcia and my 4th for Longoria.
  3. Sure but is there any indication that a plan like this is actually being discussed at the moment? The article never mentions any kind of source.
  4. Feels a lot like click bait. "One proposal would.." Whose proposal? Tracy Ringolsby's? There's no real indication of where any of this coming from except for some vague sentiment from Manfred about including a Western team in any future expansion which tells us nothing about the actual desire to expand. The stuff about Montreal that the article leads has even less connection to anything Manfred might have said.
  5. There seems to an awful lot of speculation and next to no substance to that BA piece.
  6. Maddon is a pioneer at listening to his analytics people and taking what they say seriously, applying it on the field and selling the concepts (broadly) to his players. His open mind and good people skills have served him well. That being said, Maddon isn't necessarily the guy with the best intuitive grasp of analytics and he has a reputation for overthinking things and talking himself into sub-optimal strategies. From what I have been told, Kevin Cash is much more in synch with the TB front office and the analytics team than Maddon ever was. Of course the fact that Maddon was even listening to analytics people at all made him really standout at the time.
  7. Why? Do you really think he's that much better at managing people than Gibby? He's almost definitely tactically worse.
  8. He was second guessed a ton in the World Series last year. Mitchel Lichtman basically had a meltdown on Twitter over his bullpen use.
  9. This is a bit premature but I might as well state my goal for the offseason. I'm looking to turn some young hitters into some pitching this offseason. Teoscar, Michael A. Taylor, Derek Fisher and Orlando Arcia are the guys I have in mind.
  10. Bad time to run into Kendrys Morales.
  11. Kenta + MiLB 3rd for Santana + Helsley + MiLB 1st
  12. I'm going to be out of town for several days. There are a couple of very credible trade offers OTB that I haven't examined as closely as I'd like. I do have very serious interest in both. I'm coming back on Thursday but I'll try to get back to people before that. My best window to get things wrapped up will be tonight or tomorrow. The trades on the table atm involve different assetts so my acceptance or non-acceptance of the other trade won't have any effect on my acceptance or non acceptance of your offer.
  13. It really depends on wether you or want to track them or not. If you want this responsibility, I don't see any harm in you taking it on but I don't think the league wants to impose it on you. I think simplicity was a big motivator behind not tracking it but if it's becoming increasingly common, the simplicity argument starts to hold less water and an argument for greater clarity takes precedence.
  14. Um... context please?
  15. The team needs a really good utility player. Someone who is less of a dropoff than Barney and Goins. In theory, that could be Lourdes.
  16. I feel like the decline in defensive value hits outfielders a lot harder than it does SSs. An above average defensive shortstop (like Tulo for instance) is capable of maintaining defensive value late in his career. Centerfielders seem to fall off a cliff. Is probably has a lot (everything?) to do with the distribution of chances. Merely above average play at shorstop holds more value than merely above average outfield play. To be a valuable outfielder, you have to make your mark on less plays. In other words, you have to be exceptional. That's harder to do consistently from year to year and it's harder to maintain long term.
  17. Provided you maintain your arm strength, I feel like you have to really, really get big to be too big for 3B. Look it how bad it had to get for Pablo Sandoval?
  18. I feel like we should deal with one league at a time. You have a greater impact here where you're one out of twenty than over there where you're 1/30. I could be argued that you essentially run your team like a farm team but to do here has been a source of controversy and just hasn't really been a source of controversy there so I see no need to lump the two together. Here's the thing. I don't think it's the least bit productive to go through and argue ever single move you've ever done in DDL. That's just going to create argument and acrymony for nothing. The league is still overwhelmingly composed of original members. Everyone is aware what your body of work is and the two owners who aren't can just look it up in the league history. The question to be put to the league members is very simple. Based on your body of work, do they still want you in the league? There's no need to make it any more personal than that. There's no need to browbeat anyone or accuse anyone of bad faith. Let's stop letting this fester and just deal with it in a simple and inpersonal way. If the league feels that it's in the greater interest to have you out than you're out. No hard feelings, no accusations just a handshake and good luck with your other fantasy endeavors and we're done. And if the league wants you in, those who complain about you will have to accept that there's not enough support for kicking you out and that it's pointless to keep bringing it up. It's s*** or get off the pot time.
  19. No one questions Boxy's desire to field a competitive team. Trying and failing is not the issue. It happens. It's certainly happened to me but I think we've both showed that we're at least trying to build cores and find our way out of it. Speaking for myself, there's some roster neglect that inevitably comes with falling out of the race but I still periodially do some housekeeping to at least field an actual roster and meet the minimum requirements of sportsmanship and I don't see any issue with Boxy either. Inevitably someone has to be at the bottom. It's not like we're trying to spin our wheels. The whole issue with GP is that he shows no real desire to break the cycle he is in. Now sure it's annoying that you seem to benefit from this more than anyone else but I don't think you need to shoulder any blame. It's not your fault if GP refuses to try to land better deals by shopping his players to other owners but it is a problem for the league. People have been complaining about him for a while and not just about his trades with you but his mismanagement in general. There's probably enough momentum for a league referendum at this point and I think he would probably lose that vote.
  20. My 1B situation is pretty bad and generally you won't find too many buyers at that position. We might be a fit.
  21. Man, I've really been in the dark lately. I completely missed that Nick Tepesh had become a Jay.
  22. Look I get that the article was superficial but this is a pretty despicable, self important post to make to a new poster. The thing was four paragraphs. You probably spent more time going out of your way to be an ******* than you did reading it.
