    Yeah this seemed inevitable. I wonder which position? With Sandoval on the outs and Shaw being a less than sure bet, I would think 3B. It's also one of the more typical conversions.

    Yeah "similar dry spell" is a stretch. I should have just said "a dry spell after a similar injury".

    Given the rate at which prospects busts, it is perfectly reasonable to assume this guy will bust until he actually shows something. Yes he only has one year of pro ball but he's a college guy. He should be cruising through the low minors and he's getting crushed by younger competition. Harris was small school guy so his college performance was less reliable than most. Add a terrible MiLB record to that and it's not a stretch to think that there's just nothing there.

    Tulo will rebound offensively too probably. Someone pointed out the other day that Votto went through a similar post injury dry spell but now that he's closer to 100%, he looks a lot like the old Votto.

    Considering the fact that most prospects are busts even many of the ones who are younger and play a lot better, you'd definitely put your money on bust.

    I liked the idea of NJH's trade. The idea of cashing in Betts for win now pieces appealed to me at the time but the actual players were never favourites of mine. I did give NJH plenty of opportunity to sell me on it probably because it really wanted a good offer and that was as close as I got to one. I think what I told him in the end was something to the effect that his guys just weren't the right guys for me to make the deal. Seems like I inadvertently mislead NJH through you. I think I wanted to put myself in position to be able to accept his deal but I had never reached that conclusion. I really with I still had the exact wording of the email. I never flat out told you I had made a decision because that never actually happened. I think all I did was toy with the thought of doing something rash and give his offer way more consideration than it merited.

    No one expects a 4th OF to be perfect. In fact, just one above average skill can make someone a useful bench player. If Carrera were a good base runner or could hit a little or fielded well there would be a way to put that single skill to good use but he literally does nothing well. Heck if Ceciliani were merely slightly below average at all those things but not flat out terrible at anything, he'd probably still be an improvement.

    I say this with a certain amount of hesitation (I still have a lof of shitbags on my roster) but... there's a chance my team isn't a total layup this year.
