  1. I feel for the person who reads this thread while at work tomorrow.
  2. s*** just got really weird. no words.
  3. Before the Arod suspension: 15% After: 5% Maybe less....
  4. Yeah. Although i can't really see Rogers making suggestions on who the Bluejays should sign. They seem pretty hands off other then approving the $$.
  5. Since Tanaka is much younger then the average FA, it would make sense if they would be willing to go over 5. Saying that i would still only offer 5 years and 100m + 20 posting max. I would make the pitch that this would allow him to enter the FA market again at age 30 and Toronto is a world class city for him and his family to live in. I still don't think we have a chance though. Cubs, Dodgers or Yankees.
  6. Masahiro Tanaka Rumors: Sunday By Edward Creech [January 12 at 2:15pm CST] Earlier today, we learned the Cubs are prepared to offer Masahiro Tanaka a nine-figure contract and a National League GM expects one team will "come in and blow everyone away." Here's the latest on the top ranked player on MLBTR's 2014 Top 50 Free Agents list still on the market: The level of the Dodgers' aggressiveness in pursuing in Tanaka may be defined by the progress, or lack thereof, in extension talks with Clayton Kershaw, according to ESPN's Buster Olney (Insider subscription required). The Blue Jays have scouted Tanaka, but their reluctance to offer players seven-year contracts make it unlikely the prized right-hander will sign with Toronto, writes Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun. Also within Elliott's article, a source provides this scouting report on Tanaka: "Plenty of great Japanese hitters say his four-seam fastball and splitter are indistinguishable. His regular season was outstanding: 95-96 mph, four-seam fastball, location was great, velocity was great and an unhittable splitter, along with a hard slider." Elliott's source also outlined what Tanaka will be seeking from potential suitors. "Tanaka wants to go to a World Series, wants a city where his family will feel at home since they don’t speak English. He has a desire to be on a team with potential to win and loves the pressure."
  7. True. So last 3 years we have: 2013: 89 wRC+. 2012 88 wRC+ 88 wRC+ 2011 134 wRC+ . I guess it's not the worst platoon partner for Lind. I still think he would lean towards retirement. He's a good teammate though and i wouldn't hate it if he comes back as a bench piece i guess.
  8. Pass. He was wRC+ 89 vs left handed pitching. So a Meh platoon for Lind. He was also s*** as a defender......he's probably going to take his money and run to retirement.
  9. f***. I think it's safe to assume there will be 3 teams that "won't be outbid" for Tanaka now.
  10. I think with the revelation that big markets like the Dodgers and Cubs claiming they "won't be outbid" and the fact that he prefers New York, Chicago, Boston and LA as cities to play in that the only way he lands in Toronto is if we give him such a ridiculous contract (which we won't do). At this point i think it's time to move on and start talking to Garza as long as the medicals check out.
  11. Good. Now it's time to invest in some Japanese starting pitching.
  12. Japanese Posting Fee To Be Split Over Two Years By Zach Links [January 7 at 7:16pm CST] Under the new system, the maximum $20MM posting fee for Japanese players calls for teams to pay in two installments, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). The NPB club posting their player will get $13MM in year one and $7MM in year two. The idea behind that wrinkle, Rosenthal tweets, is to give more clubs a realistic opportunity to bid on a top flight talent. That could have an impact on this year's chase for Masahiro Tanaka. There are likely many teams that are believed to have serious interest in Tanaka but are waffling on the potential price tag. With the $20MM posting fee split up over two years, the cost could be a little bit easier to swallow.
  13. At what point would you want AA to duck out of the Tanaka sweepstakes? I'm thinking the max we should go is 5 years and 100 million + 20 million posting fee. It's obviously alot - but we might be able to convince him to only take 5 years so he can get back on the market at age 30. I still think the Cubs are going to offer him something crazy like 7 years and 140 million.
  14. I assume this is a joke.
  15. I wish you the best of luck. Not sure what Ang is doing for you.....but i don't see it turning out well. lol. A Girl a fraction of your age that has most likely nothing in common with you, totally different culture and likely a language barrier has a recipe for disaster. Find a nice Canadian girl....eh their not all whores.
  16. Not the best outcome if Shark costs up Stroman + Sanchez+
  17. We're not that far off. Garza + a trade for a 2nd basemen......we should be fine.
  18. haha. I don't know...both would be pretty brutal.
  19. Yes. However if we're turning the return from Rasmus into a quality starting pitcher and 2nd basemen then you do it. Gose in CF is probably better then Goins at 2nd.
  20. Agreed. If we can turn Rasmus into a starting pitcher + 2nd Basemen i would be fine with it. Unlikely though.
  21. I wonder if the new CEO at Rogers has anything to do with this? Probably not, but it's still to early to know.
  22. Liking that Dickey Projection.
