  1. AA was going to call the trade off. He didn't think it was necessary that Jeff Mathis had to be part of the trade - something that the Marlins insisted on. (lol). He had just signed Mathis and didn't really have a boner for the trade. The FO was split. When Beeston found out he was going to call it off because of Mathis. ( shows that AA really wasn't that thrilled about the trade) Beeston said we were "selling entertainment" and pushed the trade.
  2. Read the book. Then maybe we can debate it.
  3. Alex did not make any reference to the marlins trade, in shi's book. God, Don't you understand you look really f***ing stupid when you have no working knowledge of something yet want to comment on it. Let me remind you of your recent post. I have nothing else to say.
  4. Give it 45 days after the off season is over - shall we make a lil wager on the Jays standings?
  5. Maybe you should read it - or educate yourself. It's not worth me debating it with you if you refuse to have a close mind.
  6. Read Shi's book about the 2013 offseason.
  7. That's a fallacy of assumption, though. AA has had 1 stupid offseason which i believe was fueled by the logic that the Yankees were s***, Baltimore had a lucky season, Boston just finished last and the Rays had no offense. AA didn't want to do the Marlins trade - Beeston forced the issue. If AA was desperate he would have traded Stroman+ for shark or some s*** like that
  8. If he felt that way he would have already overpaid for pitching. He's said multiple times they have deals they could do tomorrow - just not comfortable with the prices to acquire ( ie. Stroman + Sanchez). I think we all need to remember AA didn't want to do the Marlins trade. Beeston forced the issue and the blame i feel should fall on him.
  9. You don't trade Stroman and Sanchez+ unless it's for someone like Chris Sale. We're not getting shark unless we grossly overpay and it's nice to know AA's not desperate.
  10. We have a projected top 9 offense. Projected top 5 bullpen. We just need 1 really good SP. We won't have to relay on Laffey, Ortiz, and Wang this year. We have depth. We won't and can't spend 40 million, but we really don't have to.
  11. Welcome to the board. Get use to the negativity. I agree we're alot better then most people here think. I think if Shark could be had for just Sanchez he would be gone. Sounds like the Cubs want both Stro & Sanchez+ At this point....upgrade at 2nd and sign a FA pitcher.
  12. I can't see him taking 1 year. He's going to want to cash in for last year. It just won't be for 17-20 Mil. 4 years between 52 - 60 million sounds about right
  13. Very true. Saying that if a couple of the low guys have big years + 2 top picks in next years loaded draft....things might be looking sexy once again. Let's hope.
  14. Just because that's what he wants doesn't mean thats the price he will sign for. At the end of the day Ubaldo won't get more then 4 years and 60 million due to the draft pick comp and his terrible 2012.
  15. Exactly. He was saying that we HAVE to add a front line pitcher + a 3/4 type. My point was that was not realistic at all. I think we could probably try for a Garza, but a more realistic option would be Jiminez. (ugh). Then we find an upgrade at 2nd base. (Seattle: Ackley or Franklin) Then we find a platoon partner for Lind like Jeff Baker. (Ugh Boras). Looking competitive after that.. Edit: This team was s*** last year. i get it. Remember we played a good chunk of the early season with an infield that consisted of Mark D/Izzy at 3rd, Mueno at SS and Bono/Izzy at 2nd base. If we stay healthy....that alone should be a huge improvement.
  16. I see your point. It's just not realistic. If we're talking about ideals then i would argue we need 2 front line starting pitchers. It's just not going to happen with what's left on the FA market and the price to acquire starting pitching via trade. Realistically....how would you go about acquiring a front of the line pitcher and a "3/4" pitcher as you put it. It's not going to happen.
  17. We don't need Happ as depth. We have plenty of depth. Happ is fine as a #5 starter. He allows Stroman to start in AAA and not start his service time. Hutch/Drabek are other possible impact depth arms. At this point of time acquiring two starting pitchers isn't realistic. Use the money that we have on 1 free agent pitcher and trade for a Seattle 2nd basemen. Find a platoon bat for Lind and we won't be bending over for anyone.
  18. Our starting rotation as it stands now is probably something like... 1. Dickey 2. Morrow 3. Buehrle 4. Happ 5. Hutch. By all means that's not a sexy rotation at all. It's not as bad as your making it out to be. We only really need 1 big free agent pitcher to drop Happ to #5. We then have a nice trio of Stroman, Hutch and Drabek as depth options who could be impact players as insurance for Morrow (injury)/Happ (suckage). We also have less sexy options in the likes of Redman, Rogers, Mcgowan, Jefferies which are ultimately better then Ortiz, Laffey, Wang and s***.
  19. We really do need to do something about 2nd. At this point i wouldn't even mind over paying for Dustin Ackley. Trade for Ackley and sign 1 SP. Off season complete.
  20. I'm also looking for a raise at work. Doesn't mean it going to happen.
  21. I never said he would sign here for a discount. I said he MIGHT sign here without us paying a premium for him to go north.
  22. Which is why we need to sign a pitcher and keep our depth. We also really f***ing need a 2nd basemen.
  23. I think since Jiminez is Dominican he might be willing to come here without us paying a premium. Not that i really want him...just saying.
  24. Maybe. I guess i would just rather go into the season with the comfort of having Hutch, Drabek and Stroman as depth for when Morrow's arm explodes.
