Vancouver is a beautiful city with tons of things to do and it's fairly clean. In my few days there the only two things I didn't like about it was that it was incredibly expensive, and there were tons of homeless people there (end of August). Their subway system was quite good (honor system, really?), and my brother and I even got in a Canadians game. It was the most unorganized baseball game I had ever seen. Canadians throwing balls all over the field.
Philly's public transit (SETPA) is not so hot. They have trains, trolleys, and buses and they get to pretty much every area, but they are almost never on time. Most of the stations are falling apart, and you have to use gold doubloons as form of payment. I waited for 25 minutes in the hood for a trolley a couple weeks ago.
